York Ebor Meeting

Saturday priced up.
Soulcombe off 83 a must bet in the Melrose at 7/1 (unfortunately with toy bookmakers) but 13/2 with 365 is acceptable. No doubt the frigging boys in blue will run two or three and **** me like they have all season but you have to try.

I also like another Haggas - Khanjar - in the 6f handicap. Not guaranteed to get in which would be a sick joke after the St Wilfried shitshow but his Newmarket form with Lethal Levi and an earlier run against Azure Blue at Ripon have been well advertised recently. 12/1 is very fair.

Priced up but weights not released. At least they're not showing on the RP card.

That said, I know I have Berkshire Breeze a long way ahead of its mark and I've taken 25/1 ante-post. I've no idea if the intention is to run but the trainer knows how to win this race. He's got a sexy-looking 8/1 shot in it with Probert already jocked up but I hope Harry Davies gets put on BB. At the same time, the stable-mate will be worth a close look if it's thought better-handicapped than BB.

Just googled symphony group hcap and looked down and it said a/p bets etc on talking horses.
About alligator alley.
Nice.

I can’t see past Baaeed and don’t really want to try. Not going to bet, just enjoy him and be surprised (and hugely disappointed) if anything upsets the apple cart. Something might even get him off the bridle this time :)
Dunno, BJ; Mishriff won it last year, reportedly needed the run lto (and poorly ridden) and 2nd best on OR's, it looks a solid f/c bet and I've taken some of the 2.3 with B365.

Bet Bond Chairman in the Symphony (14/1 6pl Betfair).
Beaten a nose in a red hot sprint at Ascot, then went off too quickly over the same C/D latest.
Decent draw, with plenty of pace high, too.

Seems a plan, reet, but I’d spend all my time looking to see where Mishriff was rather than just enjoying the spectacle :) . Mishriff is a favourite of mine, but I do think he’s becoming a bit quirky. GL.

Looking at the heritage handicap tomorrow, there are two course and distance winners who have won big-field handicaps. DAKOTA GOLD 8/1 and COPPER KNIGHT 16/1.

I've decided my main bet in the Clipper Logistics is Brunch (12/1, win-only, taken) but will spread some jam thinly across five others for cover.

So much for the met office - we're c50km south of York, and it's been cats & dogs for the past hour, off a very similar forecast.

Good luck to people backing these.

It's one of those races I have a shortlist of 5 or 6 and it wouldn't surprise me if a few different horses won.

The horse who has just come over here called Good Eye, who ran a belter when fourth in the stewards cup...well they must think he is half decent to run in that race. I think I'll have a sporting bet on Good Eye.

My summary of that race (written yesterday late morning/early afternoon):

This is a smashing race, almost on a par with the likes of the Wokingham and Stewards’ Cup. I was very impressed with Look Out Louis at Chester, the form of which has been well franked, and have him as a big improver so I’ve taken 16/1 to five places with the BOG. I’d prefer a middle draw, though. I’ll probably have smaller bets on Nomadic Empire (currently 33s tops), King Of Stars (22/1) and Sunday Sovereign (20/1) as back-up and hope for the best for them.

I haven't backed any of the others yet. Just waiting to see what the weather does. I haven't checked either yet if there's been any movement in their odds. Off to do that now...

Nomadic Empire blue and 25s tops, KOS pink and out to 25s, SS blue and 16s tops. Maybe I'll get better in the morning.

Wed:

Gone small each way on Zarzyni in the opener. His win early in the year at Musslebrough is still great form and at Ascot last time he was low drawn and that was not the place to be and he still hit the frame. Lots of places to play with here.

I've followed Dessie in with the Ballydoyle horse in the Voltigeur. Not convinced about any of the others at this level.

I've been on Mishriff for the Juddmonte since his Eclipse run. Obviously the fav will be hard to beat but he's not cast iron guaranteed to stay the extended 10 and whilst the selection's poor starts recently are a concern I have to think Doyle will be more aware of gate speed and it's importance here than he was at Ascot when he was riding the horse for the first time.

I've had a wee rethink about this and have taken Project Dante at 33/1 to 6 places as the main saver. Connections have Bond Chairman in the race and in good form, the trainer targets York, his local track, both hoses are still in the Nunthorpe and the booking Hollie Doyle catches my eye. It looks pretty much like a wild card entry since it has only had one run in this his 3yo season and Bond Chairman himself ran a cracker first time up for the season at royal Ascot and has gone up 7lbs since then. I'm probably putting two and two together and coming up with seven but they will have a line to the race with Bond Chairman and the Nunthorpe entry suggests they rate Project Dante somewhere close to BC who is only 16/1.

Yes I was feeling Zarzyni but changed my mind, Euro. There's some support for Gis A Sub who I had my eye on aswell. First time up after being gelded...he could be anything.

I went with Good Eye in the end. It was a freakishly good run in the stewards cup.

Fingers crossed good luck all tomorrow.

DAKOTA GOLD (COL) and LOL(look out Louis)D.O have chances but on a line through those two then COUNT D'ORSAY 25/1 must have as good a chance.

NOMADIC EMPIRE 33/1
COUNT D'ORSAY 25/1

My only 2.

Cathy Come Home 5.20
Notebook horse;drawn away from the pace in the Albany, should handle any cut.
8/1 6pl B365

Yes, I had a good look at them too, especially Gis A Sub. I tend to be guilty of overthinking these things - sometimes it works (as it did for the placing of Bond Chairman at Ascot) sometimes it's totally wrong - but given Burke's record in the Ayr Gold Cup I decided GAS was being plotted up for that.

It's as tricky a race as I've done all season and I wouldn't put anyone off anything.

My figures for it:

First race is for mugs and the 4.10 isn't much better but I know for a fct they strongly fancy Soapy Stevens so Itook 6.87 on the machine and covered my bet by backing him to be in the first 4.

Look Out Louis was poor there. Back to Chester for him, maybe. And I overthought Project Dante as well.

Still, great run from King Of Stars and not bad from Nomadic Empire so I don't think I lost too much om the race overall.

He's a nice type this Deauville Legend.

I backed him at Royal Ascot when he was second then again when he won at Newmarket and then again when second at Goodwood. I had to do him today!

I call this loyalty not aftertiming lol.

Don't know what to make of that run by Aikhal. I thought he was pulling hard but I've been stood corrected on that score in the past so I no longer trust my eyes on that score. The commentator suggested they weren't going over-fast so I was expected Moore to wind it up all the way from the turn but he was picked up far too easily and the horse that ran in last finished second so I wonder if the pace was faster than the commentator was saying.

That was a sore one.
