You don't know what you've got till its gone - Tony McCoy Retires From Racing

Enjoyed the quip from Jonjo :)

That was a good one alright. Also enjoyed the suggestion from Nick Luck when interviewing Oliver Sherwood that it wasn't necessarily a disadvantage if his wife couldn't sleep [emoji57]

As you say it was a privilege to be there (thanks hugely to Michael_O for his spare ticket & v nice to meet you!) - it was one of the best day's racing I have had - so so much affection and the most wonderful atmosphere. Very moving and I think there were a few tears shed especially when he walked down the course after his last ride to acknowledge the crowd.

the TF article would suggest otherwise really

at the end of the day..what are we talking re talent?..how are you going to judge someone as better than him?..what criterion would you use?

there is no other jockey ever going to achieve what he has that is for sure on the track...he also has a popularity that no other jock including Lester has got near

he doesn't ponce about like some jocks..but that doesn't make someone more talented just because they may look more stylish

Bang on EC, the most abhorrent trait that we have is to slag off our best.

Thank goodness you retired Tony, brilliant jockey....... but to me you were the Lester Piggott of the jumping game like him, you were always fated to lose when I wanted you to win.
Wont say you are the best because to me Fred Winter holds that in my humble opinion

Yesterday was a day that will live long in the memory, a sheer privilege to have been there. The plaudits must go to Sandown Park for providing a celebration and send-off which was truly befitting for one of our greatest ever sporting heroes.

Nice Swedish. Particularly like the couple of AP in front of the stands after his last ride. I tried to get some, but only ended up with shots of other people taking photos!

Wonder who will be next to pop along

Walsh, Geraghty or Johnson
My guess would be Geraghty. Apart from a couple of exciting juveniles, there's not massive quality at Hendersons. Whereas, Willy has some amazing potential for the next few years and surely Dicky will want to be champion jockey a couple of times??

A very emotional but I thought splendidly handled day - the most moving bit of all strangely was to see Richard Johnson so cut up about AP retiring after winning on Brother Tedd - probably the most striking tribute of all .

Wonder if you can get odds on him making a comeback in 2 or 3 years - he wasn't exactly relishing stopping. See it many times in individualist sports, in particular boxing champs, there's a certain pride and arrogance in being a champ, that comes back to sting them when they see new kids on the block/throne. It doesn't usually end well as things move on even in a couple of years.

Just seen a competition for Saturday's racecard at Sandown signed by AP and noted the cost of a racecard on the day was £5. Taking the p*** or what !

Robbing B*****s, as if not getting fleeced enough at the bookies everybody wants a piece of the $'s, hope they didnt sell half as many as normal - I detest that behaviour !
