Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse's Unofficial Blog

My Dad took me to an Ashton United match once - they beat Horwich RMI three-two at home in a League game in the 1970s.

Decent crowd, entertaining game as I recall.

Another winning day - system bet delivered and Found A Fifty, Saint Segal plus a last-minute value bet on King Of Answers kept the head above water there too - and another winning week.

ROI now 6% on the year, more the double what it was a month or two ago, and annual profit now 80% of the 2024 number with 24 days to go.

On the downside, this was my blandest lasagne in ages, maybe ever.

I might spice it up tomorrow with some chilli powder, or paprika, or Worcester sauce - or all three!

Great advice - I would go and buy some tomorrow but for the fact that, immediately after my last posting, I had one of my many "let's just DO IT" moments and a just poured heaped teaspoons of hot chilli powder and paprika then added lashings of Worcester sauce to the pan containing the rest of the lasagne sauce!

I've given it a good stir, now left it to marinade overnight in the fridge and when I have Round Two tomorrow I'll see if it makes a difference.

But Cumin is very much on the list now going forwards - thank you!

I batch cook the sauce, let it cool down and marinade overnight, then extract a portion and, for lasagne, have layers of lasagne sheets, sauce and cheese, then heat up the whole thing and eat it, sometimes with a garlic baguette on the side.

It usually works out fine - this one is just a touch on the bland side, so I've converted the sauce to my chilli mince recipe.

I never backed a bloody winner all day.

I had a jacket potato with beans for tea at London’s finest hospital.

I’m hoping the wind will die down soon and I can get some sleep.

Fairly lousy day tbh.

Upsides - system bet was a solid win and spicing up my lasagne sauce worked well!

Downsides - Lost on the only race I "manually" got involved in and lost badly on the AW (which is also systematic).

Annual AW ROI is now only 2.5% and the profit from it is only 3% of my overall profit across all activity - this is piss-poor for the amount of turnover I'm pumping into it.

As it stands, it will survive into 2026 - just - but many more days like today and it's getting axed.

A notion made me smile just now.

It's a very busy time of week.

Most of my non-automated activity is at the weekend.

I often have a lot of work to do on Wednesdays and definitely on Thursdays (today will be manic).

Anyway, I got caught up in other things and was struggling to catch up last night, so I did what I could before getting some sleep at a sensible time.

I've now woken up (I'm an early to bed, early to rise person) and in the last hour I've caught up and now ready for another mad rush from 11am onwards.

The notion that made me smile?

Thinking to myself at just gone five in the morning: "Apparently there are people out there who would find it all-too-easy to romanticise about your life, Ian....the poor fuckers!"

Well, it made me smile to myself, anyway - no offence intended.

Manual bets - lost, though not heavily.

AW Data Model - small profit.

System bet - really strong winning day.

The latter made today pretty decent and made up for a couple of not so good days earlier in the week.

I'm pretty involved tomorrow and on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to both.

Will be finalising Sunday plans from 11am onwards tomorrow.

System bet - lost.

AW Data Model - lost.

Manual bets - tiny profit and would have been bombs in front but for two bets at 20/1 both getting done half a length at Cheltenham.

But they WERE done, so it was a comprehensive losing day overall.

Consequently, outside of my nearest and dearest, I hate everyone and everything so, unless you've got biscuits, get off my f*****g blog.

And if you have got biscuits, give them all to me - then get off my f*****g blog.
