    The Long Shot Thread

The lack of 8 runners is a blow for E/W but 16/1 looks big For Gabrial in the summer mile given the rain that's there and the Gd-Sft conditions on the round course, Has been in good heart this season on ground the last twice that would have been much too lively for him.

He was a decent poster on the game but the abuse he was churning put to people was just not acceptable anymore, plus He's been back on here in various guises in the last few months anyway.

Same here Colin, very disappointed considering he was one of my favourite horses of the last few years.

    Eclipse

Almanzor looking unlikely for York so a potential 3 way clash could feasibly only happen at Leopardstown given the unlikely prospect of quick ground on champions day - the Hannons are mentioning the Arc for Barney which would seem a big ask.

No thread for it pre race but no matter Superb race best one since So You Think v Workforce. Ullyses has been a revelation this season, i had him down as a bit of a boat last season and even after his win at Sandown I wasn't totally convinced but although he clearly needs a good pace to aim at...

    Royal Ascot Saturday

I thought Dutch Connection was running a decent race at Ascot but as the final furlong loomed it was clear he was at a huge disadvantage on the part of the track he was on, worth another chance back at 7f.

The Road to the 2017 Champion Hurdle

I agree with you up to a point regarding the trainer comment but to use Tidal Bay as an example I doubt we'd have seen the resurgence in his career under a clown like Howard Johnson.

That seems quite likely as I'd imagine the Phoenix is the next port of call.

    The bets that got away....

The only thing worse than a losing bet is missing a winning one right?? Some may class this thread as aftertiming but we're all grown ups so I think we can look beyond that. During the Chester May meeting I entered Snoano in my tracker after a 5 1/2l defeat off level weights in the Huxley to...

Similar scenario to his old man, although Pour Moi never raced again after his Derby.

Can't give Beckford away on the machine at present, I wonder if being by Bated Breath the ground isn't up his alleyway.

Mark Johnstone's is a stable I struggle to get a handle on but the weeks following Royal Ascot are always a time to look twice at his runners, Jaameh has obvious claims in for the hat trick as does Yorkidding who runs for the 5 th time in the space of month and the 5th time over 2 miles this...
