2 Mile Chasers 21/22

So according to you my opinion that I dont think Shiskin will reach the heights that Sprinter or Altior is shite.

That just about somes up why this debate is just about over.

I said over amonth ago Chacun would prove a bigger threat to Shishkin than Enegumene while you were busy backing Enegemene for the Ryanair

But still in your tiny mind despite your own actions I was wrong and the biggest danger was the same horse you backed against running.

For me to say Chacun could have the beating of Shishkin I had to put up a case to support that which you shot down in flames but with nothing to back it up.

Anyone can be a neghead and come up with charming statements like Idiot and shite which seems to e your only weapons these days.

Nope.

I think anyone who has already concluded that Shishkin won't ever reach those heights is talking shite/being premature.

FWIW, I backed Energumene for the Ryanair in September, I think - as part of an ante-post Yankee (it is already a loser). I did put Energume up for the Ryanair in the Ante-Post competition on here a few days before the Clarence House - which is what I guess you must be referring to. Best not to conflate these two things, and it's especially wise to get your facts correct on such matters, if you're going to make such specious and erroneous claims.

As for your argument that CPS had the beating of Shishkin, it was based on your conclusion that Shishkin had already reached his ceiling of merit. It was that point I was taking issue with, and continue to take issue with now. It is, for my money, far too early to come to such a conclusion - no matter how many times you might care to repeat it.

I've just backed Energumene at 12/1 for the Ryanair (BetVictor), for pretty-much the same reason.

From 22nd January...Must have slipped your mind

If you aked me to list all my Cheltenham bets I simply couldn't without going through everything.

Just remebered I backed a sure fire 3 cross for 2.2k which Mullins just decided one of the horses Galopin will run elsewhere

So your not alone in that department.

My apologies, Tanlic - you are quite right. It's with BetVictor, and I barely use the account for horses, so missed it when I was checking my bets. Not offering that as an excuse though, and I do feel like a muppet.

Reasons are important though, and in the case of that Energumene bet, it was pretty clear it was a bet in the expectation that Shishkin would win at Ascot, and that Energumene may be re-routed to the Ryanair as a result. On that basis, it was somewhat conditional, and more a roll of the dice as to how Mullins might play it, rather than any reflection on the Champion Chase market.....which was what you inferred (or were trying to infer) in your previous post - "I said over a month ago Chacun would prove a bigger threat to Shishkin than Energumene while you were busy backing Enegemene for the Ryanair" - if you'll permit me to also use a quote.

No matter, you got me with my drawers-down on the Energumene bet, so fair play. If I'm going to have a dash at you, then you're perfectly entitled to have a dash right back. Feel free to add this to your 'Gotcha' column.

All my other comments still stand insofar as the plain-wrong comparisons you're making between Shishkin and Altior/Sacre, and the premature way in which you appear to have decided Shishkin has already shown us all he has.

If the real Chacun turns up then the even money NRNB in the w/o Shishkin & Energumene will look an absolute steal in 3 weeks time.

That is certainly a bet I would be interested in Wilson but unfortunately I withdrew almost all of my recent winnings and promised myself no more big bets until after or if Honeysuckle wins during the festival...I have more than enough ap bets to see me through the festival and actually if Shishkin wins that will be a cracking result for me...but if Honeysuckle wins I will look at having a good bet the way you have suggested if tge price is still available

I haven't really been paying attention to the market, but note that Energumene is currently available to back at 6.0 on the machine for £58.

Has this thing drifted, or has the horse always been hovering around this price on the Exchange since Ascot?

Thanks, James.

The 5/1 is a nonsense price if the horse makes the race......though you'd need a brave man to take it (braver than me, at any rate), given his absence last year, and the fact he's now as big as 30 for the Ryanair too. Something must be up.

Betfair are letting me have £37.50 e/w @ 4/1 NRNB and as long as he’s still 7/2 tomorrow, the same boost then.

That seems madness considering we know there’s barely anything between him and Shishkin.

Very true, but, I must reiterate its rumours, Paul will be on Chacun. You could well end up with Patrick on Energumene who’s then a 6/1 shot.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Energumene doesn’t go tbh. Still a few more big names to miss out yet as is the case every year.

Would it definitely be Patrick? Surely as an owner you would want Danny Mullins to get the nod.

Hobson's choice!

If this rumour is true, I'd love to know Townend's motivation. Is it loyalty to Ricci (many more and better horses at the yard than Bloom)?........or is it that he can't see any way past Shishkin on Energumene, no matter how many times he runs the race in his head?........or is it just Willie's giving the orders?........in which case, is it because Willie can't see any way past Shishkin with Energumene?

As long as we don’t end up in the situation a few years back where both Chacun & Altior were late withdrawals and Defi went off at prohibitive odds before flopping in a small field.

The fact I backed the winner that day but felt as though I’d lost due to backing Politilogue in the w/o Defi market at a third his winning SP, made it even worse.

I've always said Chacun Pour Soi was a better horse than Shishkin and my pal Grassy has poked me with more than one sharp stick over the subject...bandages are off butstill hurts.

Before backing Shishkin to beat Energumene I backed Shishkin at 11/10 for decent money in the QMCC then laid it back at 1.8 and put the profit on @ 8 and 7.8 on Chacun Pour Soi

In a sense its a bet to nothing and anice pay day if he wins so I am looking forward to watching the race and que sera.

Just can't get it out of my mind he was Willie's banker last year and now my good pal Beef tells us he still Willies fav,:)

Be interesting to see which one Paul Townsend rides
