2 Mile Chasers 21/22

I like energumene a lot and loved his run last time out

I had thought he could be a 3mie horse but after that, looks a sure fire 2 miler

So how does he go about Beating Shish?

Pretty agressively is my take, Shish will finish like a train so do you try take some early sting from him and how far back does Nico sit

Also given the odds and a Mullins horse coming over, any chance of a good gamble on Energumene

Races mid-wide as he traditionally does, pushing Shishkin out wider. Surprised no has referenced Shishkin's auto-correct (to his LEFT) when he is short.

Energumene's jumping is far slicker than Shishkin's and Townend will look to puncture at the 4 down the back straight, fill up at Swinley Bottom and go again, testing that wind-op of Shishkin's. I'd be concerned about Shishkin's jumping under duress especially at the open ditch (fourth last).

It's a question if Energumene is far enough clear before the turn in. He's sure to trade odds-on. Shishkin races behind the bridle at some stage in all of his races.

Personally I would make them a lot closer at the prices.

If he (CPS) does bounce backon his best form he'd beat Shishkin and Energumene......

Shishkin and Energumene have run in half as many chases as Chacun Pour Soi, and are still improving horses. It is true that they have not yet reached the level of form that Chacun has achieved; but then again, nobody would expect them to have done so, because they've never yet featured in an open, Grade 1 championship chase.

We have very likely not seen the best of Shishkin or Energumene, and to compare what they've achieved to-date versus what CPS has achieved is (once more) not comparing apples with apples.

Chacun was racing against much better horses in his first 4 Chases than either of them and with a fair amount of success............Defi Min and the Arkle winner were among his victima and he ran 2nd to A Plus Tard

It's early doors but nothing indicates what those two have beating will achieve anywhere near as much. as those Chacun raced against in there first 4 chases

Though that might change in time as one of them has to win tomorrow and the other could still go on to be a very good horse

Not that it means **** he was also higher rate at that time than either of them.

Unfortunately he has lost the plot of late and like Douvan may never come back to his best.

FFS, Tanlic. Two of those four Chacun runs came in open company rather than novices. This is just another false comparison.

True but in his second novice which was 1 of only 2 he ran in he beat Defi Du Seuil
who had just won the JLT and Duc Des Genievres who had just won the Arkle by a dozen lengths and achieved a 169 rating

Energugeme had achived very little and was rated 159 Shishkin had been nothing of note and was rated 161

To be frank you can twist it and turn it anyway you like but Chacun was WPM number 1 for the Festival and with good cause before he went wrong.

I think I'm right in saying Shishkin has been a warm favourite for months for the QMCC but Chacun and Energumene and Chacun were joint second favs until lately

All due to the fact Chacun ran like a pig in the QMCC while the others have progressed every since he has drifted like a barge

That put my nose out of Joint as I really fancied Chacun for the QMCC now I am firmly in Shishkin's camp and could easily be wrong agian

To be fair it probably will end up meaningless unless Chacun wins mega impressively in his next race and Energumene is beaten by Shishkin

Saturday will tell us more.solve the first part of the puzzle then it's a case of que sera

Last I looked B365 were paying fractionally over evens the f/c Shishkin to beat Energumene, with the latter 13/8 to win outright. Excellent chance of the dutch being money fo old rope, is it not?

My worry would be one beaten out of sight/pulled up. If Shiskins off the bit turning in and not making ground he’ll be ridden conservatively if not pulled up with other days in mind.

For Energumene, if Shiskin goes past him 2/3 out and he’s newt left we could be reading P next to his name.

After all the dribble and people not sure what they fancy we will soon know.

For me 2 good things have come out of this so far.

1. Granger coming up with the perfect short name for Energumene which is a bastid to remember how to spell..."ERG"

2. The Jonbon/Shishkin double was paying a fraction below 6/4 and should still be available if you box patiently on Betfair

The SFC is boosted to 5/4 with Powers this morning, reet.

They couldn't lay Energumene for £2K at 2.6 half an hour ago......out to 2.66 now......market looks fairly settled, all things considered (though high-street books might be shortening to get a higher over-round).

I've taken 11/10 to a biggish bet for the Champion Chase. If he wins today I'm not convinced Energumene will take him on again.

Could be a wise move...I just got home from a party with some friends and the first thing I see is a report Shishkin drifting on the RP website

I thought oh Goodie maybe he's gone to Evens.......horse hasn't moved an inch:blink:.....who is their reporter? Donald Duck?
