2 Mile Chasers 21/22

Could this race give something else a squeak in the QM?

No chance, its 8 weeks away, I remember a time where they would both be having another run before the festival, 8 weks is an age in NH racing - look at the record of the DRF winners in Cheltenham. These two are a stone plus ahead of anything else.

What a race

Immediate thoughts are that on Good/ Good to soft ground Shishkin confirms the form at Cheltenham

On soft/Heavy Energumene will reverse it

I was lucky enough to be at Ascot for Enable and Crystal Oceans King George but i think today topped that

Im also lucky enough to have tickets for the Wednesday at Cheltenham:)

Today I thought Paul Townsend had it won but this Shishkin is unbelieveable tough and found more than I thought it looked like he was going to.

As enjoyable a race as it was it would be brave man who would suggest the result will be any different in the QMCC with the hill coming into play.

Gotta give it to Nico he gave the horse a superb ride/finish as did PT on Enegumene..anyone who thinks Nico is not a top class horseman..well there's just no help for them.

Jockey lost it, imo.Knowing that Eng will stay further, he was over-confident and simply got outsped.
Tony Bloom must be sick as a parrot.

I don't see an obvious reason for Energumene to turn it around. On the whole he jumped the better and still got beaten.

It's just as plausible to suggest that the reason Shiskin made the rwo mistakes was becasue he had never been pushed like that before and there is every chance teh same thing happens again.

Personally think the hill will win it for Shiskin, but if the current 7/2 on Energumene is available on the day it will be a no brainer, account closing e/w monster bet!

Can’t have that, reet. The race panned out exactly as expected and Townend knew Shiskin would be coming for him at the end. Come he did and there was nothing to be done about it., imo.

And to think that so many people want this race to revert to a poxy handicap.

Can’t have this myself, CL.

This was the best running of the race as a Conditions event by miles. One swallow doesn’t make summer, and it should revert to a handicap - no question. It would only have been enhanced if Shishkin was giving Energumene 1lbs, and much more weight to the other two.

Today’s was a tremendous, tremendous race, but it doesn’t offset the litany of drab and/or one-sided events that preceeded it for years…..not in my book, at any rate.
