A new programme of forum competitions

If Grey gets his Cheltenham Ante-Post comp off the ground, I will put £100 into the associated prize-fund. The only stipulation I make around my contribution is that it must be used for selfish indulgences, rather than charitable acts.

Very generous offers, gentlemen. Since charity begins at home, no-one should feel guilty about complying with your wishes!

If there are no objections, and in order to speed up discussions, I will draft an outline programme of events and consult the people who have offered to contribute prizes or time in the next week or so.

Meanwhile any further offers of help will be most welcome.

We have to run some sort of a NAP competition. Is OTB is still on for contributing a prize fund, I will double it. I think we should start it at the Open meeting and end it on Boxing Day. Two Naps per week. One on a Saturday and one on any other day of the week. We need to get more traffic on here on a Saturday.

Still on Gearoid - that format sounds ideal.

Draft of rules:

1. The Naps competition will be run from Monday November 7th until Wednesday December 29th.
2. All members and new members will be welcome to join.
3. Competitors must make two Nap selections per week.
a) One selection midweek and one selection at the weekend.
3. Staking will be the following:
Midweek: Staking will be either 2pts win or one 1pt e/w.
Weekend: Staking will be either 4pts win or one 2pt e/w.
4. Naps will be settled at SP.
5. UK and Irish racing only.
6. Competitors not posting a Nap will be deemed to have tipped a loser.
7. Selections can be made at anytime during the week. There will be no cut off for racing starting.
8. Any competitor who fails to post a Nap for 3 weeks in a row will be eliminated.
9. Entries will be allowed up until November 25th with a penalty of 6pts for every week missed.
10. On the last week (December 26th-29th) competitors will be required to select a Nap on all four days.
11. For the purposes of the competition December 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th will be designated as weekend days.
12. Prizes will be confirmed at a later date.
13. The organisers will not condone the use of prize money for any acts of utilitarianism.

What have I missed?

Good stuff.

I would suggest designating Dec 26, 27, 28 and 29 as weekend days for the purposes of the competition. The quality of the racing warrants it, and it might make for a suitable climax.

Good shout. Makes perfect sense.

There is no ocean between England and Wales. They both pay reverence to the same Queen. Both countries racetracks are governed by the BHA.

So for the purposes of this competition the tracks you mention will be deemed English.

No ocean between England and Wales, Gearoid, you madman? There's a bleedin' great gulf! And what the heck do you think Hadrian's Wall's all about - although we've lost our long-time Scottish contributor, I doubt that Ayr and Hamilton will be best pleased to be deemed English. Off with his head!

When is this starting, I've had a dabble already?

Otoh, Musselburgh now, that being slap bang next to Auld Reekie and them Edinburghers being of the English persuasion .... that'll be the exception.
