Aintree

Wtf were the Pipes doing running Western Warhorse back over 2m 4f his form improved enormously when put back to 2 miles and he fell in a heap today - it is not as if there isn't a race for him the 2 mile Maghull is on Saturday bizarre.

TNO is a good horse but he gets beaten because others are better than him . Harry Fry clearly made a hasty and unwise decision taking Rock on Ruby chasing after just one hurdles run when he wasn't fit .

Agree with the 1st point.
TNO was beaten by a mistake and speed horse around Kempton. Clearly unlucky in the Champion.

The combination of a hard race in the Champion, the extra distance and a poor ride from STD, made TNO work far harder than he should have done.

Yeah, and but for bad luck, he'd have won a Xmas Hurdle and a Champion!
Beating a slow old boat like ROR is just about his metier, and if any of the first 3 feature in next year's CH, I'll finish fourth on a dray horse.

Had Guitar Pete and Warne today, tomorrow looks tough though. Looking forward to the 3m novice looks open but haven't found a betting angle.

Think the Melling is a bad renewal and an outsider like Toner D'Oudairies could have a good e/w shout.

Jossies hill while looking like the likely winner is too short.

can we tell what the new one should have achieved at cheltenham going by todays run ? i dont think so to be fair. for a start i think he is better over 2m, he quickened nicely today going to the last then got tired, also he would have been trained primarily for cheltenham and if he had won, probably wouldn't have run today. for what it's worth i dont think he would have won at cheltenham with a clear round, but todays performance didn't tell me that.

agree with posters that josses hill too short. the supreme form bothers me in that behind the impressive winner, the next 10 were only seperated by about 6l. but can't find an angle in to this race. art of payroll looked good last time but i dont think it was a great race and he would have been of more interest in a handicap. amore alto could be of interest in that he has beaten the supreme 3rd twice already but is twice the price, i know he had races run to suit, but he could go well again and he also ran well behind lac fontana giving weight, but i could hardly be confident. i think rajdani express the one to beat in the melling.

Going with King of the picts in the opener 33/1 with Coral far too big
Couple of placed efforts in Irish grade 1s over the winter albeit well held by The Tullow tank and Vautour.
Carberry switching to Art Of Payroll a slight concern though.

I was really surprised Mullins didn't run Wicklow Brave in the 2 mile novice hurdle. He was going really well at Cheltenham until the last when he run out of juice, and I thought the easier finish at Aintree would have been right up his street.

looked at this one too. i think the trainer is having a fantastic time of it, some of his horses have improved out of sight since he took over, he had a 200/1 shot go close enough in the racing post trophy and nearly won the irish lincoln the other week with a horse thats improved about 2 stone in the last 12 months, he doesn't seem to tilt at windmills without reason. i will follow him closely this year.

In the opener I'm taking a punt with The Game Changer (20/1) and Mijhaar (12/1) against the field. The former takes a step up in class but the Raceform comment last time was very positive about how he travels through his races like a class horse while Mijhaar was a 110 horse on the Flat (and doesn't seem too inconvenienced by a little bit of give) so should do well if he takes to hurdling and the yard’s Commissioned ran very well on Thursday.

Double Ross has plenty of weight but I'll take a chance on him at a double figure price and 5 places.

Backed him aswel, Cant see him out the 5 judged on Cheltenham form
May just be too much lead on board for the win though.

Roddy pointed us at Princes Tara(5.25) almost 3 weeks ago when she ran at Fos Las. Won well, looking pretty classy. Although only a £1k race she could potentially be up to this level

On the same page istabraqfromneigh! Definitely a day for some value.

2:00 - Amore Alto 12/1
3:05 - T'onor Doudaries 18/1
3:40 - Lost Legend 16/1
4:15 - Tistory 16/1

€1 e/w Lucky 15

I know Geraghty has chosen Beat that over Tistory, I just have always had a liking for Tistory.... Serious engine! And I think the step up in trip will suit. He is a half-brother to Punchestowns and is still unexposed. Definite potential to improve imo.

Beat That is absolutely born for this trip, and it's significant that Hendo's decided to take the wraps off today, rather than run him over shorter tomorrow.

Has been blue all morning on oddschecker
And the beating he gave to Champagne West at Ascot now looks very smart
