Ante-Post Punting Plans/Propositions Thread.

Been through some form lines. Mark Johnston's Vale Of Kent looks like a good horse. He has ran well in big fields and holds two entries, both in The Gigaset International, plus the Golden Mile handicap at Goodwood. Currently 25/1 for both, but could shorten depending on how he does in Ayr's 4:05 of Monday, where I hope he returns to form. It's just a thought at this stage but I reckon there are more races to be won with him so wouldnt put anyone off nearer the time. He needs to run well on Monday though.

I mentioned in a thread saying i couldnt understand why mark johnson had ruined his hcap mark for 9 grand unless they wanted to get in something better.so its interesting to read your comments.hes on my radar.

He is back down to a mark of 92 now...dropped six pounds since last run I believe!

He carried a 6lb penalty last time for winning a two horse race and i backed him to follow up but he never looked like winning so it looks like the handicapper has left him alone.
Something is in the pipeline.
Hes entered again next week in the aptly named anything can happen handicap

In last years golden mile MASHAM STAR scraped in at the bottom of the hcap rated 93.but 2ith weight for age he got bottom weight
I wonder.

Vale Of Kent entered in two races at Newmarket on Saturday, the 4:00 and 5:10 I believe.

I think Gustav Klimt is overpriced for the Sussex. I'm willing to ignore his last run as over-watered ground at Deauville is a nightmare and so on SJP running the gap in prices between him and Without Parole is excessive. Prepared to ignore the older horses because they give too much wfa in this race and also because they are all group 2 standard.

JLT Cup, Saturday, Newbury - QULOOB 8/1 I wouldn't put anyone off this horse. At first I thought the price was short enough, but he has a really progressive profile, ran well on his first start and will take a lot of beating come Saturday. He could get shorter.

More excellent trial form today in the shape of the 5:20 at Newbury (I think).

The first four home, were Mankib, Top Score, Lake Volta, and Medahim. These all have entries in either/or The Gigaset International/ Golden Mile.

Vale Of Kent is obviously on my radar right now, (and on Monday some declarations should be made for The Gigaset), but I'm definitely keen on that form today as a guide for future winners.

I shall keep posting on this topic in the next week or two.

Ive been looking at the gigaset today mate and vale of kent is about 40th so i would think he should get in.
At the moment its not wortth having a bet as they have about 40 horses under 25/1.
My little list that i will be taking a look at are
Vale of kent
Medahim
Via serendipity
Sabador
Raising sand
Firmament.
Especially firmament.
I might have to even study form.

Cheers for input. Further to my last post, Top Score was second today, and is entered in The Lennox and Stewards Cup ATM. With Expert Eye such a warm order for the Lennox at about 9/4... Currently there does look to be some inflated each way prices, and Top Score looks like a good each way price at 33/1. If I did back him I'd have to hope Godolphin go for the Lennox and not the Stewards Cup on a mark of 108 though! That's the potential perils of anti post betting.

Yeah I'm holding fire on Vale Of Kent until at least Thursday when we will know if connections want him to run in the Gigaset. His last few runs have been at a mile, so you never know, they could take him out and just run him in The Golden Mile. Its definately too risky to back him now. Wait til Thursday is my advice.

Ive done a 25p ew yankee so itdoesnt really matter if they dont run

Via serendipity gigaset
Vale of kent golden mile
Coosmelli ebor
Gifted master stewards cup id love him to run but i think hes rated 111 or something stupid like that.

I definately like the look of 33/1 (e/w) for Top Score in The Lennox on the Tuesday. First day of Glorious Goodwood.

That's an interesting race and will cut up big time. Threading is interesting at 20s. Was poor lto but she's had three runs at Newmarket (july and rowley) and has been iffy everytime. Headway at 33s is big also.

Vale Of Kent raised 5lb to new mark of 97. Looks about right.

I think he runs off 95 in the gigaset. 92 + 3lb penalty because it was an early closing race.
Must have a big chance

Careful. I think the max field for the Gigaset is only about 18. There are a couple of big-money handicaps at Ascot coming up and they narrow the course for the meeting. I haven't checked for myself but the Gigaset might be one of the races affected.

Aye hold fire, Outsider. Park your tank, at least until tomorrow when some early declarations are made. According to my information, he is in receipt of a 3 year old weight allowance, which makes him look favourably weighted, but also means Vale Of Kent needs loads to come out. My feeling is he should scrape in, but I wouldn't bet much on it, until at least tomorrow's forfeit stage.

Ha ha.i do jump in sometimes if the price is right.if they are ballotted out you get your money back or should do.
One problem with a/p is its only 4 places whereas on the day skybet and others will be 6 places.
Anyway, after a good day yeesterday ive had a fiver ew on vale of kent at 25/1.

Havana Gold put in a much improved performance today and could be capable of winning an average looking Nunthorpe-the 20/1 with Boyles is massive if you can get on.
