Arse Cup

Hey, Coronation Street is ok - many millions of viewers can't be wrong!!!!

It's easy, mindless crap that you can half watch without concentrating.

Why oh why do racing programmers insist on showing bloody documentary style reports in the 15 minutes building up to the race? Like to feck sake...stick all this stuff at the start of the programme....waiting to see Cheltenham for months and we end up watching bloody recordings for most of the time. Thank God for RUK.

Watching RUK's brilliant replays of the William Hill chase, showing all the different angles and finishers. Meanwhile Channel4 are showing a lovefest between Fitzgerald and Henderson.

Yup agreed - about to email C4 and ask where the hell the runners weren't show for 2 televised races. I like Mick Fitz but quite frankly couldn't give a stuff how long he was at Hendersons and tell me what was the point in showing Katchit turned out in a rug? Didn't tell anyone anything.

Agree. It's ridiculous. I came home (Ireland) today and got to see Live racing for the first time in a while. Even looked forward to the morning line. When they put on Ellen whatshername (she actually used to work in the paddy powers in the village I lived in) I thought how ridiculous the whole thing is. She was openly admitting she knows didly squat about form but will try to get the favourites. Why do they have to add this 'human element'? Bizarre.

RUK is indeed very good. Even if you prefer some presenters etc over another, they're all such a step up from C4, and indeed RUK

Watching the highlights last night on Ch4 I was getting increasingly annoyed with the arty-farty camerawork; we want to see the bloody race, not how many different stupid angles you can get in without showing the field/the leaders* [delete as applicable]. I even thought it was worse than BBC's insistenceon sexing it up by using 'arty' shots in.

Watching the cross country race at work, as soon as the first three had crossed the line, the angle changed to focus on the winner. Did anyone else finish? Well wouldn't know. I was watching a horse at the back for as long as I could in black with a yellow diamond(?), should have been pulled up at least 6/7 fences out, but clearly was struggling before that. Was he pulled up?
I sent an email immediately after the race to Channel4 about the finish, and also about the 'air shots' which went on for far too long. The Female sent a reply this morning stating she had passed the comments on to to the producer and the director.

Cheltenham racecourse for their choice of commentators today. Why on earth not just have the top class Richard Hoiles do the whole card instead of having to listen to Mike Cattermole ("Mikael D'Haguenat finds nothing") and the other guy (think it was Ian Barlett) who shouted every word and was getting hysterical at times through the races.

RUK's coverage is a different league to Channel 4's but (when I can) I always flick back and listen to Holt's commentry.

It wasn't Ian Bartlett - think it was Mark Johnson? He does have a particularly relentless style; I don't mind it myself.

this isn't an actual finger point but I always think this sort of comment makes the pundit making it look an arse..I've heard it a few times over the last couple of weeks

when there is a race with just one obvious front runner someone will say..I really like hold up horse X because Y..the sole front runner ...will make it a good test

?????

its so flawed I can't believe anyone...let alone someone who is paid to know better...could actually read a race like this

this one crops up regular...always makes me laugh anyway
