At Last! An Interesting Competition

Aw! C'mon. Can we include the AIM market UK equivalent of Nasdaq? A couple of interesting opportunities that would give me a chance. Also can we borrow stock and thus go short?
Good thing these are easy questions ;)

Ok think these are ok:

Google (GOOG) Nasdaq
BE Aerospace Inc (BEAV) Nasdaq
Macrovision (MVSN) Nasdaq
NVIDIA Corp. (NVDA) Nasdaq
Petroleum Development Corp. (PETD) Nasdaq

2,000 points each.

If there is any chance that we are allowing NYSE then I would very much like to trade Telefonica (TEF) in place of Macrovision.

Thanks.

Little Horse, can you see if these are acceptable entries, please?

BHARTI AIRTEL (Indian private telecom provider)

MICROSOFT

HYUNDAI STEEL

JOHN LEWIS (Department stores, UK)

SHIRE (UK pharmaceutical)

Bharti's net profits were up 79% in their second quarter, and there's a continuing telecom boom in India likely to continue for the foreseeable future. Re John Lewis: Christmas be a-comin' in, and they're doing well with 24 UK-wide shops at present, with a big seasonal upturn anticipated. Shire is the third largest UK pharma company, with a nice return showing, thanks to new drugs for hyperactive kids. Keep feedin' 'em those E Numbers, Mums!

Betsmate - you are on a yellow card for awkwardness. Please see the rules...

Equities can be bought on the Dow, FTSE, Nasdaq or ISEQ only.

Barry- I may need some help tracking down some of the ticker symbols. I get the feeling, without looking, that there are all kinds of A shares and that stuff in some of the selections.

In fact I hereby appoint you the official competition referee, apart from issues pertaining to your own participation.

 Blimey! Thanks, Bar - is there a bonus percent for making an excellent choice? :) Or just the usual pewter tankard?

   'Kinell! Can I do NOTHING right? (The answer to that, Madam, is yes, you can do nothing absolutely right.)

And I'm being trusted to sell tickets for Lingfield's Bonfire Night! Now, let's see... that's 200 at £5 each, which is, ah, £5,000, right? No? Uhhh... no, it's, ahhh...

Surely Alan Sugar needs my expertise?

Oh, just bung evens on the lot, AC!

I am struggling, this is definitely NOT my strong point - as I now realise when I was trying to pick my stocks.

I'm a virgin to all this malarky. I'd never in my life looked at the FTSE 100! So I decided to stick with what I know, plus one other with a pretty name

Sainsburys PLC
Prudential PLC
Marks And Spencer Group PLC
United Utilities PLC
AstraZeneca PLC

2000 points on each.

Is that ok?

We all have to start somewhere, and you just never know how those companies will perform in the months to come, Griffin, so best of luck with them.
