Batfair Hurdle

Baradari is one poor excuse of a tip.

Thing would need wings just to keep up

SOAV walked round and couldn't have beaten him any easier.

Yer man must think the weight he gets from SOAV gives him a chance

Can't see that making a whole lot of difference in what will be a far more competitive contest

Disagree Tanlic regards Baradari. Lack of pace in the Greatwood didn't help his cause. The way the Ladbroke panned out would have been right up his street.
Then again I could be talking through my hole as I fancied him in the Greatwood.
Whether he runs is another matter as he's entered at Ascot this weekend.

In the interest of the forum and because I respect you as a poster and enjoy debating with you because you come across as an intellegent well mannered guy I think we should agree on....you are talking through your hole lolololol

I will make a point of having another look when I get home Frankel...but I doubt if he will be one I could take seriously.

On Tour would still be the one I would be most interested on along with SOAV who needs to win this or a similar race or go very close if he is to have any chance of running in the Champion Hurdle

Yep. Not particularly liking my chances of getting a run with Top Notch from about 50th on the list (ignoring any other reasons why he might not run), and Mullins no certainty to bring Lucky Bridle over either.

I might be back to the drawing-baord at the 5-day stage!

I thought before he ran he might be a Cheltenham horse because he was a bit of a talking horse but despite winning well enough no one seemed interested. I put him up that day as a major punt but he hit a flat spot and for a moment I thought I had done my money. In the end he found loads which told me he may well be a staying type in the future. Why NJH entered him in the Betfair is beyond me as he would surely be taken of his feet in a race that they go one helluva gallop in and while stamina is important a high cruising speed is essential and you couldn't have accused the horse of that when he ran. The horse of NJH,s that fits yhe bill surely must be SOAV if you can ignore his previous run?

Obviously SOAV would be my fist port of call in looking for the winner. If he has any pretensions whatsoever to being even a contender in March, let alone a possible winner, he has to win this as easily as Zarkandar. I just wonder if getting him through the race without leaving his championship prospects behind is the main priority, though, despite the vast prize. What would the owners prefer, this pot and a consolation spot in March or a promising run here and the Champion Hurdle, assuming both aren't a foregone conclusion?

Edit - it's just occurred to me that maybe Geraghty realised during the race last time that Faugheen was just in another league and that a place in March was the best he could do so decided to save the horse for Newbury.

Given the way the Ascot form is panning out, I was a tad annoyed to see Segal give Baradari a mensh. He was my quiet horse for the race but that was before taking a close look at the form (which I haven't done yet).

Even easier than that, I suspect, given Darlan was going to serve Zarkander his arse on a plate that day!

Don't think you can take that as read, Gh. Watch the race again. Sailor's Warn was going just as easily at that point but he and Sire De Grugy were run down going to the last by those coming from further back. I'm not saying Darlan wouldn't have won or won easily; just that I'm not sure one can be so categorical about it.

As I was saying great tip by Pricewise:lol:

Big question is could you fancy him dropping back to 2m when he looked like he needed every yard of todays contest?

Wouldn't have him on mind and may not even run

Williams says she doesn't think the Betfair Hurdle is his type of race. Sounds like she prefers the idea of the Coral Cup or the Pertemps.

Doesn't appear to be his type of distance:
QUOTES I have been feeling for a while since his staying on fifth in the Fred Winter, when he ran out of ground, a step up in trip would help. Baradari jumps well for a small horse. He might take in a Pertemps Hurdle qualifier next. He is one of my two in the Betfair Hurdle but after today I don´t think that is the race for him - Venetia Williams, trainer.

Anyone know if Garde de la Victoire is an intended runner here? If Arctic Fire and Diakali both go in the ICH, and Hobbs swerves this, the weights will rise by minimum 9lbs and the handicap will become very compressed.

After winning the Greatwood Hobbs reckoned he was still 20lb short of Champion Hurdle class but I see he has a CH entry so maybe he's improving fast ? Hobbs has two other runners in the BF, Hello George may not get in but if the weights were to be compressed would that help or hinder Cheltenian ?

GDLV tops the latest declarations , 47 left in

Emerging Talent, Top Notch and Arctic Fire are the 3 most notable absentees
