Some great pricing ricks by the big firms though. They don't seem to even look at the Beyer figures which are so instrumental in forming the US market.

How is Shareta 5s for the Turf by the way?!

Beat St Nic on both occasions they've met and that Yank horse is nowt special. She should be 9/4!

Hey, the BC gives me a reason to expense a trip to California...."poor" racing or not so I won't complain.

The tiny fields for the Juv races are a result of the ban on all race day medication for 2yos (Lasix, bute etc.) - thoughts ?

Numbers aside, are the top performers entered or are there some notable absentees?

Surely a good thing long term.
Any other juv winner bar Street Sense do any good at 3?
Time to leave the medication behind just like the cyclists; with all the veterinary tools available from ultra sound to laser to scoping to blood sampling to feed analysis ther should be no need to medicate.
Let only the inherently "sound" horses cover 200+ mares per season from now on.

Agree with all this.

I'm interested in the connections decision to run Fantastic Moon here. He has to put a strange run at Newmarket last time behind him, but why given his sire won an Arc on heavy, and his mother won a listed race on similiar ground (before being packed off to stud), are they sending it over there instead of going to Doncaster?

I know his form is on fast ground, which is a littel bit peculiar given his breeding, but I found it interesting to read the owners representative being so forthright in the post on Tuesday by saying: "he won't run at Doncaster if the going is soft."

Perhaps he is a very good horse on firm.

I reckon Noseda will have him tuned to the minute for a big run and he's obviously a horse who won't be lacking for a killer turn of foot thats for sure (looking at the Sandown run).

Maybe they're more likely to get fast ground in Southern California than in South Yorkshire, and a BC win wouldn't harm his U.S. stud prospects either.
For mine, the acceleration he showed at Sandown was more of a surge than a rapid change of gear, and at Newmarket it again took him a while to regain momentum, after becoming unbalanced due to interference.
The Santa Anita turf track is less than 1m round, very different to where he's plied his trade thus far, and I just cannot see Fantastic Moon having the speed for it.

If the Fugue and Fame and Glory are genuine favs for their respective races they must be well short of decent horses in the USA.

Looking forward to Excelebration V Moonlight Cloud and St Nicholas Abbey will have my attention but it just about ends there.

When Zenyatta was doing her shuffle I couldn't wait for it to happen but this year we've been so wrapped up in Frankel I wouldn't know an American horse if it jumped up and bit me.

The thoroughly likeable 5yo Wise Dan is the top rated horse in the US on both turf and dirt this year..... The time it took you to read this is about how far behind Frankel he is...

All I can say to that is you must think I'm a slow reader :0) It should make an interesting watch though

The toughest call is will Excelebration handle the traveling and be at his best on the day?

The only link we have is when getting 3lbs Wise Dan beat Cityscape 4 lengths on ground that the Roger Charlton horse is not at his best on

Cityscape is more at home with cut in the ground and he had that when Excelebration beat him just as easily at Ascot off levels. On that basis Excelebration is probably a better horse than Wise which makes him well short of Frankel on ability.

Looks a nice horse but whether he can handle Excelebration if he turns up in the form he was in at Ascot remains to be seen

He is 3lbs behind Excelebration on RPR's. It'll be a good race though as Wise Dan is no mug and still looks progressive.
