Cheltenham 2016/2017

Did she not just edge out Ridaness for Liam Browne and Lester Piggott ?

She did, indeed, by a short head. Baccalaureate (Ernie Taylor for Harry Wragg) three-quarters of a length back in third.

Noel Meade won the Cork and Orrery the following day with Sweet Mint, ridden by Wally Swinburn, who just beat Double Form at 20/1.

Any more Royal Ascot memories?

Start your own thread, this is a Cheltenham thread:p

I can't believe this.

Respond to to an enquiry from another member and get hauled over the coals - outrageous.

And what could be more Cheltenham-oriented than a reference to Noel Meade?

It's forum political correctness gawn maaaad...

Two 50-grand handicap chases on Saturday's card... oooh, I'm tempted...

I dipped a toe in the water a few weeks back and caught a crab. Been holding off on the jumps since then but I imagine a few of the usual suspects will want to see one of their horses in the winners' enclosure this weekend.

I'm just a little annoyed that we don't yet have 48-hour final decs for NH racing.

isn't NH racing during winter? Weather can turn at any hour so why make the final decs come out with 2 days before the race?

That won't wash, as they already do them for Sundays, major races on Saturdays and feature races at the festival - all without much problem.
48 hr decs were introduced specifically to generate income from Asian markets, and are unlikely to apply to the winter code anytime soon for fairly obvious reasons - sadly, in my view.

Ewart has declared his star of last season in the novice chase....i wonder if he will have the same belt out from the front tactics over fences.
Really looking forward to the 2m novice chase and could be interesting if he does, as Marracudja looks like he wants to go from the from the front as well

Baron Alco also a nice prospect, but reckon he wants a bit more cut and possibly further

Think Ewart's star Aristo Du Plessis could have a good season, hence put him in the list of 200 for the TTF. I see Jessica brings two over, she won the race last year with Rock The World.

Khezarabad was definitely in need of the run, looking quite tubby in the paddock (so I backed the other one 😉) I am pretty confident the placings would be reversed next time. He blew hard enough afterwards and he should be a cert next time.

Thanks jinnyj and backs up what I thought as an amateur paddock judge. Unfortunately, I backed the Nicholl's runner...

Great start as predicted :0) for PN with 3 winners. Nicky Henderson's River Wylde won a nothing race at Warwick but is much much more than that and may well dispose of this lot just as easily and one of my 10 to follow.

PN's best chance on paper looks to be Adrien Du Pont He's been opposed in the market by Alan Kings but he ran 3rd to one of PN's, Diego Du Charmil, last time out.

Alan Kings are running ok but advantage PN who surely knows how his two compare and his stable looks in exceptional Cheltenham form......2/1 could be very generous

Happy punting

early days in twighopper land but having looked at the 3.00 race i'm struggling to see why Sceau Royale is 6.2 whilst adrien du pont is fav..SR beat ADP off levels and now gets weight..so Sceaux Royal has to get a few bob on to beat it again..the market is that geneorous you can also get 2.74 just for Sceau Royal to place..seems madness to me..i must have missed something..will have a dabble win + place
