Cheltenham 2016

I've backed Hendo's Altior at 25/1, but think his Newbury winner Buveur D'air & possibly Modus are currently the best we’ve seen. The Buveur form will be tested a little this afternoon, with the 2nd and 3rd both out again

Modus for me

Buveur D'air for me of the UK horses and backed accordingly @ 14s.

Hobbs thinks a lot of Wait for Me and it was hard to not be impressed with the way he was brushed aside by Henderson's horse last time and as mentioned above, we'll get a brief glimpse of what the form amounts to later today.

Seemed happy with him on ML today, planning to run him in a handicap at Kempton on Dec 27 to give him more experience

He looked amazing in the paddock and I really think there's nothing to touch him over 3m this year. Missed all the fancy prices but 3/1 for the WH will do (apologies for the **** picture but had the camera on the wrong setting so the rest went in the bin!)

Just hoping the Pipes will find something to run - the jockey is the only threat to Thistlecrack at the moment !

Joking apart the interesting one is Aux Ptit Soins - seems a bit fragile but to win the Coral Cup with so little experience was some performance and Nicholls knows how to win the Stayers Hurdle .

Obviously if Annie Power made it back in time or there was a hiccup in More of That's chasing career and he was rerouted then Thistlecrack's price might look a bit short

Why is he putting Scudamore up, when he could presumably have had Paddy Brennan (who has done a tremendous job on Cue Card) down to ride?

Does TS have a relationship with the owner?

Wouldn't sweat it, Thistlecrack won't be stopping whatever the pace.
Hope he drops his Feltham ride in though.

There's a major rick in the age stats for the Bumper. Showing 8x6yo and 5x7yo winners in the last 14 years whereas it's 8x5yo and 5x6yo.

I've had a cut at the 14s for Gilgamboa here
Bit of a risk I know as he didn't come over last year but of the first 10 in the betting on oddschecker I'd have Ptit Zig as the danger.

I've a sneaky feeling that the 12/1 about Vroum Vroum Mag for the Mares hurdle could look plenty big enough by this evening.

Aurore D'estruval the current second favourite for that race hasn't been seen in nearly 12 months and was rated 147 then. Vroum Vroum Mag is already rated higher over fences and could be anything.

It requires a lot of ifs and buts but if she is anything like the same horse over hurdles then she'd destroy the Cheltenham field if the same connections Annie Power were to be re-routed or miss it completely.

Mullins' comments this morning ahead of her first run over hurdles make for interesting reading.

"It looks a good opportunity to see how she fares over hurdles and we can have a look at future plans afterwards," Mullins said

The Ryanair looks like the race to get stuck into AP.

unless Vautour bombs, I can't see any of the leading prices running, leaving big value elsewhere

The lack of Apache Stronghold news has me a tad worried and so I've been looking at Road to Riches. I know Giggi wants the Gold Cup above all else but if they have Don Poli and Don Cossack for Gold surely R2R could be re-routed.

Don't think he's far away from being out. This was from Meade the other day.

"Apache Stronghold is in the Lexus and the King George and is back in work as well, but I don't think Christmas is a possibility for him either".

"I got held up with him and I just don't think he's ready to start off yet."

Nice. If Vautour doesn't turn up in the Ryanair he'll go close. The last two winners were both placed in the previous years JLT and although it's a bit early to compare that trend to the Arkle/Queen Mother one it's a promising sign.
