Cheltenham 2024 NRNB

Thought he would go with L'homme Presse but can also see the logic, but you would surely want NRNB, seems a very fragile sort.

Gentelmansgame blue across the board for Gold Cup I assume Pricewise has put him up

Someone should tell him it's the Cheltenham Gold Cup not the Haldon Gold Cup. He's attracted 9 pence on the machine at 20/1

He scraped home from a half fit Bravemansgame in the Charlie Hall and with that in mind in the win market 100/1 wouldn't tempt me.

Bravemansgame who surely would reverse the placings with Gentelmansgame in a rematch is available at 25/1

Didn’t the Robcour guy say after the Charlie Hall that Gentlemansgame wouldn’t run against Gerri Colombe. Obviously they may have changed their minds after Gerri got stuffed out of sight but I’d be surprised to see him in the GC field

Obviously TS knows far more than me

I don’t think Robcour would prevent one of their horses running for the sake of avoiding a clash. Any horse considered good enough to run in the Gold Cup should be let take its chance.

Sorry Luke but you are wrong mate.

100 pounds ew at 7/2 1/5th the odds if 8 or more runners would return 170 pound for a 200 pound outlay for a place

That's a loss of 30 quid if he finished 2nd or 3rd. No punter in their right mind would place that bet on a horse who chances of actually winning are nearer 10/1+++.

with 8 runners they would go 9/2 and with a likely loss of 10 pounds they would attract some money who thought it worth the gamble.

They would need to try and take some bets to cover likely losses and they wouldn't do at 7/2

I hope that makes sense to you.

Unless it's in each way multiples.

Lol I'd love to know the real story behind your hatred for Segal, it's borderline obsession at this stage.

How do you price this? genuine question.

Champion Hurdle, just 2 declared.

Con Hill - Jockey, David Maxwell
State Man - Jockey, Paul Townend

That would be one of the best 100/30 bets of the season. ORs only have 8lbs between them, Townend is worth a stone over Maxwell.

I appreciate that CH is most likely more than 8lbs better, but enough to make 100/30 not a stonking bet?

CH's OR is 'way too conservative but it's how the official handicapping procedures operate.

Personally I wouldn't imagine Maxwell making that much of a difference to what would happen. He's improved quite a bit in the last year or so. Still a bit of a fanny of a jockey but I'd fancy myself to ride CH to victory over SM (and I weigh over 12st) without breaking sweat.

I think I posted on last year’s Champion Hurdle thread that not even God could stop Constitution Hill…….but I wouldn’t be as certain about Mr D Maxwell.

What about putting CH in the care of Olly Murphy or Skelton for a couple of months as well as having Maxwell up top?

Ballyburn favourite across the board for Supreme -hope you took some of the wrong prices.

Was always going Supreme. Jeriko wins that though.

I took Il Atlantique before today, thought he’d win, not too disappointed. Though my betting balance took a hit for today.

My main fancy is Slade Steel. Still get 16s. Hoping they skip DRF, the temptation could be to keep him at 2 if he beats Ballyburn there.

Rewatched LoN, how is the double green shorter for Chelt - he was massively flattered by the way the race was run.

By the way, is the big novice handicap chase one of the races dropped from the festival? (The one Kim Bailey won a couple of times recently.)
