Cheltenham Festival Handicaps - 2016

It's odd that they would consolidate on a handicap mark, in readiness for precisely the races where a handicap-mark is of zero consequence i.e. Graded events.

Djakadam is rated 168 in Ireland, but is rated 170 in the UK, so maybe there is some kind of qualifier event that compels them to pull the marks together......though one would have thought that Djakadam would already have qualified (whatever it might be).

No matter. It's an esoteric point really.

Not necessarily. He was rated 170 the last time he ran here and may have been put back down to 168 based on that run. We won't know for sure until the handicapper reveals his OK OR for him.

Apologies of this has been answered elsewhere, but does anyone know when the weights for the handicaps will be announced?

Midday today. The PR day is postponed though as it would interview with Pendo riding a horse. I **** YOU NOT.

What is the informed view on where the cut will be made in this race?

If the cussed old bugger showed any semblance of form Holywell would be thrown in in the 3 m handicap . Theatre Guide looks very fairly treated off 10-13 .

Our Father/Guess Again(Kim Muir)
Leave At Dawn (Pertemps)
Sequanteur (Martin Pipe)
Gangster (Albert Bartlett)

The last named is not a handicapper but he does have two stone in hand.

What do we think the cut off point in the Ultima will be? Upswing off 139 is a tasty morsel.

I thought I read somewhere that Gangster misses the show?

Mullins called him a definite runner in the Bartlett only two days ago.

If you have a more contemporary update, I'd like to hear it, DO.
