Cheltenham Festival: Tuesday Races

Tullyhill and Mystical Power dutch for the Supreme, reverse forecast too.

Each one doubled with Gaelic Warrior in the Arkle, single bet also.

Twig, Lord Du Mesnil and Kitty’s Light each way in the Ultima. Do think Eldarado Allen runs a screamer off top weight as well though.

Batman Girac and Nara in the Boodles.

Salvador Ziggy in the last.

You know I keep banging on about Apple Away and there's all sorts of egg-on-face coming my way, no doubt, but I've noticed the jockey booking for the NH chase: Mr B O'Neill. According to the RP jockey stats, his lowest weight over last year has been 11-4. Apple Away races under 11-00 in this. Probably clutching at straws now heheh.

Just saying.

Riding a mare in an amateurs only conditions race.

Early thoughts...

Supreme - Mystical Power, I suspect has been the Mullins #1 all along. I worry about Firefox since he's already duffed up Ballyburn and probably had an excuse next time. Tellherthename to outrun its odds and Supersundae the surprise package.

Arkle - Gaelic Warrior is by far the best horse in the race but Willie is on record as saying it doesn't run its best races at Cheltenham and is better right-handed. I'm loath to let it put me off it but can't help it. Hunters Yarn ew in the circumstances.

Ultima - too many fancies to mention but hope they let the handbrake off Run Wild Fred. I fancy the novices to dominate, though, with Minella Crooner and Excello my main hopes, plus Victtorino.

Champion Hurdle - no bet other than State Man as the anchor in a treble.

Mares' Hurdle - Lossiemouth the second leg in the treble and Echoes In Rain for a top three finish at 3/1.

Boodles - very small ew interests on Bright Legend, Les Loyautes and Kaleosun if it gets in, with small win cover bets on Milan Tino and Lark In The Mornin.

NHC - Salvador Ziggy hacks up for the last leg of the 12.5/1 treble. Mr Vango to run really well.

gonna love the ground Heavyyyyyyyy

I think Willie's banging his head against a wall somewhere...His original plan was to go for the Supreme with Ballyburn if it was testing, it's going to be heavy and no one saw it coming two days ago...

Slade Steel in the Supreme..

Ile Atlantique will do Ballyburn in the Gallagher Bingham thing...

27 races. Cross-country gets abandoned.

Won't be heavy away from the x-country course (and no one in their right mind give a flying whatever about that)...

The ultima used to be called the ritz.

Originally National Hunt Handicap Chase has included the names of many sponsors including Ritz

When Witchita Lineman won it is was called the William Hill Trophy Handicap Chase

Then Jonjo won it again with Hollywell it was the Baylis & Harding Affordable Luxury Handicap Chase

It's had more names then you have had hot dinners

The only way you will find it or the Ultima is by searching Festival Trophy Handicap Chase

What's your basis for this statement?

It was wall-to-wall rain yesterday..

All the money is going on horses that handle testing conditions..

They're wading into Gaelic Warrior

Forgive Firefox a run and he is a greeat price tomorrow

I have liked Slade Steel since I saw him as a pointer

one of them will do for me to get the day going

Yes, I've taken 6/1, 4 places (PP). Obviously I'll win more if MP wins but I'm not sure if heavy will suit the latter. I suppose I'm hoping Willie's deep-sand training regime will assuage those concerns. Both horses are weak this morning in the betting.

I could do with a boost myself:lol: let's not kid ourselves this is going to be tough going today. I reckon a safety first approach is best....Back a double State Man and Lossiemouth calculate whet profit you can make from that and have 80% of that amount on Gaelic Warrior at worst I expect you will make a small profit if the double comes up and if Gaelic Warrior wins you win a lollypop ,No more bets that day

Salvador Ziggy out to 10/1 with three places on offer in plenty of places. I presume the drift is down to the ground but it was soft enough when it ran in the Pertemps last year so I'm hoping its class will see it through safely enough. I've taken the 10/1 again, ew, with the three places and BOG. If they decide the ground is too soft and pull it then there's no harm done and the original bet was NRNB too.

trying to work out if Lossiemouth has drifted to a backable price @1.85 or 2m4 on heavy is a swerve job

I think Colonel Mustard will get placed in Champion Hurdle and I'm on at 13/2.
Today is a day to be careful.

As they pointed on TV this morning (and elsewhere over the last day or two), her spring aim is the French Champion Hurdle which is over 3m and usually run in very soft ground so I imagine neither the trip or the ground is likely to be an issue for her.
