Cheltenham Handicaps

Thankfully of my many systems is always backing a horse that you love so much that you don’t want to not want it to not win if it’s upsides at the last fence. Which is good because my little system is rubbish these days. What a horse. Could imagine him thinking in the winners enclosure, what’s all the fuss about, it’s what I do.

Yes, I was trying to visualise the race unfolding last night and saw Coole Cody making the running, pressing on down the hill and keeping on from the last only to find a couple of bandits outpointing him up the hill. Grand Paradis was the one I fancied but he stookied a few fences and never got into it. Maybe they'll send him to the Topham but he'd need to jump better there.

He can't jump at all. I knew that beforehand and still backed him. Daft.

My BBB tried his hardest: Conor said they went fast all the way ( whether times back that up but that's what he felt) , he wasn't convinced the ground was as soft as they said, and the water mistake didn't help, but running on empty up the hill but kept trying bless his brave soul. Seemed okay after, had lots of pats and cuddles. Slightly disappointed if honest. I wasn't expecting him to win but top 6 would have been fair for him I think. The race went so fast, never known watching him to go that quickly. I was literally having heart failure seeing him up front there for most of the way. He always tries bless him. Aintree next maybe, it may suit him better. Main thing home in one piece and seems all okay. Cheltenham 17 03 2022.jpg

I was also keeping an eye out for him through the race, thinking of what you must be going through!

I thought he ran very promisingly for a long way. Glad he's okay. I'm sure he'll win another nice race for you.

Most intriguing horse of the day having not run for 735 days..will either win or bomb out

I'm going for the Win @ 12-1 [BOG]

I’ve backed this one too. He was quite a short price for this in 2020 but faded up the hill IIRC

Yet another one of my systems is backing horses that have been off for a long time because they won’t run a horses that has had problems unfit and they wouldn’t persevere if they didn’t think it had a good race in it. Trouble is I’ve got far too many systems now!

Friday morning reported with an injury and needed pain relief before setting off for home. Really hoping nothing too serious, vet out Monday, but think that may be it for this season. Ian leading him up retired today. He's the only one who can hold him on the gallops! Hope he has a long and happy one as been very kind to me over the last few years aside from anything else.Rowley and.jpg

Ian looks like a really kind person. I hope he has a lovely retirement and I hope Basil is ok. I used to dream of owning a racehorse but I realised long ago that my nerves couldn’t cope with it.

Ian's lovely. Called The Iron Man on the yard as can ride anything, and only one who rides BBB aside from when jocks turn up. Going to leave a huge gap at the yard. He has always allowed me time with BBB at the races, never in a rush or to hurry me up.
