This is what I love about the flat season - Royal Ascot is over and there is still no let up. Straight into some top class action this weekend at The Curragh.

Rain forecast for later in the week but it has been scorching here for the last few weeks and unless there is a massive change (which is not really forecast) then the ground will be on the fast side of good.

Some good two year olds usually turn up this weekend as well along with the Derby, Pretty Polly etc.

Rain? No chance. Too hot to go outdoors today. The going will be between good to firm and cement if this holds up.

Newmarket got hit by quite a bit of rain over the weekend so the ground is good. Currently praying for some Good ground at the Curragh not this firm stuff that seems to be everywhere.

They obviously want 'safe' ground, but there has to be some concern that the Curragh will overwater. Rain is forecast for Wednesday and how is that likely to affect the ground that has, 'plenty of moisture' in it after all the watering they've been doing. Watering is fine if it maintains safe, good to firm ground, but surely it is dangerous if it is used to change the ground. We all know what happened last year at this meeting.

God this forum is full of doom and gloom merchants. Are ye of the opinion the Curragh staff dont check a weather forecast. Im looking forward to a great weekends racing on perfect good ground.

I am hoping to have a runner in the National Lottery Stakes, but need some rain. Would appreciate it if anyone nearby could yell at the first sign of darkening skies!

Get the Morris dancers out!

Our local troop danced something called "Thor's Hammer" at the Tewkesbury fair and yelled "Look out for rain!"

3 days later Tewkesbury, Gloucester and my house were xfeet under water.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday : Mainly dry, settled weather will continue, with sunshine, but there is a possibility of some heavy, thundery showers breaking out. Becoming very warm, with temperatures in the mid 20s in many inland areas and possibly up to the high 20s in places over the weekend. Winds will be very light and variable, with daytime sea breezes near coasts, keeping temperatures a little lower. A few mist or fog patches may form at night.
