Departures 2010

Dixieland Band, 30 years old, destroyed yesterday at Lane's End farm, where he will be buried.

One of the last surviving sons of Northern Dancer, he was a cracking broodmare sire (Street Sense, Monarchos etc).

Schindlers Hunt. Feck that anyway. Really liked that old horse, a reliable sort and dubious whether he should have been out so soon after running such a poor race at Cheltenham and having a hard race in the Irish GC at Leopardstown.

Terrible fall but also thought that the fall by Khachakuri in the previous race looked nasty - thank god he walked back albeit sans bridle!

Exactly the kind of horse you wish has a happy retirement. Real blow for the yard I would imagine.

Horrific stuff there. Prudent Honour and Plaisir D'estruval both levelled out at Valentines...

Any news from the Topham? There were 2 looking very bad at one fence looking back through the field.

They always do Euro and after that the trainers instructions are "get a handy possy" and then they have a jog-in start and career off to the first.

Poor, dear SCHINDLER'S - can only echo all that's said above regarding the sorry lot today. Helluva pace in the Topham - although some handled the race with gusto and got away with it, it really was too fast, too furious for some.
