End of the line for Fist

PM'd him a coupl of days ago - no response, thus far.
Really do hope he's OK.
It does seem Tanlic has passed on. If so, may he rest in peace. He certainly was a very positive and welcome addition to our forum. Always worth listening to and very knowledgeable. In my opinion, a lovely man. Rest in peace our friend.

Geez, Dan, I could hardly disagree more but I shall be forever thankful that he and I were able to bury the hatchet latterly. Life's much to short to hold grudges and I will remember him in very much a positive regard.

I have been praying for him through the recent Easter services and if it is the case that he has gone to meet our maker then I trust that he will have got past St Peter at the Pearly Gates, probably via a nice wee yankee in St P's ear...

I realised after I joined that a few didn't get on with Tan but I made sure I didn't antagonise him and I think we got on fine.i will miss him.he was very knowledgeable.
I hope he is still hanging on.

Really sad to see this news. RIP Tanlic I may not have agreed with all the views you were never shy to express but were always worth reading

He was a very good poster

I disagreed with a lot of what he said but he made the place entertaining

He had a deep love for racing especially adoration for the Henderson horses

Indeed a shame

Like many, I had a few run ins with the old rogue. But I totally respected his knowledge and love for racing.

I really enjoyed Tanlic’s insight into the old days - he was a proper “I was there” historian. Great stories about Arkle, and he was convinced that Flyingbolt would never have beaten him in a GC. I’ll take Tanlic’s word for that.

He also knew his stuff, when it came to modern racing.

A great loss to this forum. RIP.

We should set up a forum hall of Fame

Add one entry each year and a few post humous

Somewhere where their posting history can be secured and some nice words/funny stories shared by members

What you think?
I would suggest to add first, Col, Roger and some of the others

As a living contributor, Maurice gets my nomination as the 2025 TH HOF recipient

Those of you who remember bookmaker Terry Rogers will know how he considered "the good thief ", crucified beside Our Lord to be the patron saint of punters.
He had one last card to play before he died; the possibility of everlasting life on the other side.
He played the card, successfully from what we are told.
Subsequently Easter is a very good time to enter the afterworld when one gets the call.
Hoping Tanlic played his final cards well enough to be on the guest list if he has been called.

I have been browsing this site for years without being a member or posting, over the years I have had my favourite members,The Outsider,Reet Hard and Euro just to name a few,but there was always one member I looked for first his name was Tanlic, many a time his 5 star bets got me out of a hole,he will be missed.I will be backing Constitution Hill the next time it runs shouting it home for him.

Nice one, Benn.

I think we all will be now. Tanlic loved that horse.

He was very ill the other year and didn’t post for ages. Is there any chance that he is recovering in hospital?

There's always that possibility but unless someone has a phone number for him to text him, its going to be hard to know.

If it is ethical to ask: if anybody could get his real life name to me I might have some resources available to track him. If advised by the group here that this would be an intrusion into his privacy I fully understand.

We spent years boxing the ears off each other like many on the forum, but his absence and the contributions of others have reminded me just how much I valued the grumpy oul fecker.

PM is fine of course.

Always tough when a forumite is lost . I remember when dear old Alan Morgan went missing early in 2004 that the late Lord H made enquiries and found out he had passed on . Others of course include Diamond Geezer and the brothers The Cardiffian and Merlin the Magician.
