Epsom Derby 2020

The rest of the jocks can hang their heads in shame. Well done to the winner and those who backed him

Absolute joke and the clerk of the course wants shooting

Every fookin winner has got the rail today, firm ground on the rail and good everywhere else

Glad i wasn't there as i usually am:D

Did you hear what the CSF paid!? £56k!

Total utter farce of our premier race.

I knew somebody on here was on it! Well done, Outsider :)

Could that be a good winner of maybe the worst ever renewal of the race?

That's what I thought tbh. It looked like a funny race for obvious reasons, but they weren't making much ground up on him in the last furlong. I think he will prove the best horse in the race, sectionals will be interesting

The horse won because the other jockeys fecked up. Simple. I put it on a par with Pour Moi and Wings of Eagles winning.
I am pleased for the jockey and that’s all. He stole it. If he backs it up next time, then fair enough.

I had a dream that serpentine won last night. Now I've had various dreams over the years and just about none of them have won (pineau de re the outlier).

Couldn't not have a few quid on him.

Well done to outsider for naming it before the race unlike after timing me.

PS did I mention the £5 I had on amran to place at 18/1 Lolo lol.

Heard on ITV that the winner ran the last 3f in c36 secs, which indicates that he's no mug. Leger fav on today's run?

Sectionals will be very interesting, especially from some in behind from 4 out. Russian Emperor, English King and Vatican City to name three.

Safety Voyage set a course record in the Surrey Love's Oaks was a record for the race.

Times were fast all day, means like the little in terms of assessing merit.

The winner kicked off of a slow pace and benefitted from the market leaders either being non stayers or being way too far back.

I'd reckoned for a wee while that the general standard of the race was very poor. I'd said the market leaders were doing nothing to get me excited.

That was pretty much my reasoning for going with Vatican City for the main bet, since he could have been very close to Siskin in the Irish Guineas with a bit of luck in running whereas I thought the English Guineas was a pile of shite.

I was very disappointed, I have to say, with VC today. He never really seemed to pick up and I wouldn't necessarily attribute it to a lack of stamina.

I watched Serpentine's race last week and was moderately impressed but couldn't imagine it putting up that kind of run.

My immediate post-race thoughts were of Simon Rowlands frantically trying to get a handle on the race. It was weird watching.

I'd also said after the Guineas that I felt Love would beat the colts with the allowance. I stand by that.

I've been rating races for 40+ years. Until today, Oath's Derby was the worst in my book. I think Serpentine might be around Oath's level but what on earth does that say about the others?

I like that DO.and you are probably right about the race.the first 3 were the first 3 for most of the race and the rest couldnt even catch the 3rd.
Serpentine's win last time impressed me and with so many doubts about some of the others I thought he might do the same.i didnt expect him to win like that though.

There's little doubt that fast times are more easily achieved when a horse is unchallenged by others. I reckon Ghaiyyath did the same lto, and is unlikely to repeat the feat in a more solid race tomorrow.

Whatever about the jockeys not regarding serpentine, the disgrace was that the fancied horses couldn't get past khalifa sat and amhran na bhfian. If anything Marquand rode the rest to sleep having gambled that the 'pacemaker' would fold.
