Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

Very grim to lose a horse a race in the last three races . The govaness and Rezorbi had both fallen at earlier Cheltenham fixtures this season - the mares hurdle is run at a much faster pace than all the other mares hurdles and the same appears to apply to the novices handicap .

Poor pont was just bad luck .

Tends to happen with ground like this. Horses are going a good deal faster than they've been used to all season.

Reports suggesting Niceonefrankie died at the fourth last - this is becoming a grim year .

Indeed. Seven horses lost, Long Dog, Montdragon, The Govaness, Pont Alexandre, Rezorbi, No More Heroes and Niceonefrankie. Three of them came a cropper at obstacles, the rest died for other reasons.

Long Run, winner of the 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup, retired after 5th in Hunters Chase @CarlisleRaces today.

I see that Sam got a ban for not riding him out after the last as he could have gotten third place, Lord jaysus have these clowns any common sense at all
