Explosion On The Tube

Yellow cards could be issued...

:D Tonight Sam and Mark are coming home :D Mark popped back for an hour or so last weekend to sort out the dogs but poor Sam hasn't been home since she left there last Thursday morning. They've both worked so hard and are getting a much needed week off. I'm hoping to pop over next week to see them.

I'm so pleased that this part is all over for them. Sam sounds remarkably chirpy considering all they've gone through. She says there is still a lot of work to do where she is (Edgware Road) but they're too tired to carry on anymore.

Hope they have a lovely relaxing week ahead and can put last Thursday's tragedy behind them - they really are appreciated more than they know.

Best wishes, and Songy's sentiments, to them and to their colleagues, Griffin. If any people deserve several rounds of drinks, it's these.

'Incidents' spark Tube evacuation

Emergency services have been called to three Tube stations after "incidents", Scotland Yard said.
Police confirmed they had been called to Warren Street, Oval and Shepherd's Bush stations.

There have been reports of smoke coming from two of the stations and all three have been evacuated.

The whole of the Northern Line has been suspended, along with the Victoria Line and the Hammersmith and City. There are no reports of any casualties.

A spokesman for London Underground said the nature of the incidents was unknown.

One hospital, near Warren St station, has started its emergency plan.

Sosiane Mohellavi, 35, was travelling from Oxford Circus to Walthamstow when she was evacuated from a train at Warren Street.

"I was in the carriage and we smelt smoke - it was like something was burning.

"Everyone was panicked and people were screaming. We had to pull the alarm. I am still shaking."

But a BBC reporter outside Warren St station said there was no sign of smoke outside.

If you are in the areas concerned send us your comments using the form below.

Five incidents reported at this moment on BBC24: not sure if they're 'major', but they're certainly curiously coincidental. Whatever the outcome today, it's unlikely that attempted or actual repeats of two weeks ago won't happen again.

They're now talking of "dummy nail bombs". Reading between the lines a young man who had something to do with it was injured and the police have him.

Can there be anything more useless than a report reading "Suicide Bomber - Failed"? :shy: That wrecks his chances of a summer job with Homebase, I take it?

Fingers x'd for all innocents...

I won't edit the above but it needs reconsideration - police have asked us to look out for a tall black or Asian man whose jacket has holes ripped in the back with wires sticking out of it...shoudn't be hard to recognise him

On a more positive note, I did get the opportunity to hear the word "fuck" (well actually it was "fucking") on BBC television at 13:00. Which amused me if nothing else.

More stations evacuated today, and a reported shooting at Stockwell. Whether any of this is connected to the bombings is far too early to say but the traffic in London is definitely in turmoil today.

POLICE SHOOT SUSPECTED SUICIDE BOMBER

Police have shot a suspected suicide bomber near a tube station in south London.

Marksmen opened fire near Stockwell Tube station as passengers were evacuated. It was not clear what the suspect's injuries were.

Passenger Briony Coetsee said: "We were on the Tube and then we suddenly heard someone say `get out, get out' and then we heard gunshots."

Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "There is no word on whether he has been killed or simply injured."

If the suspect is confirmed to be a suicide bomber, it would mark the fifth attempted terrorist attack on London in less than a day.

An eye witness report says the police fired 5 shots into him as he tripped into the carriage. The BBC reporter asked was he dead. The witness sort of laughed and said "yes mate, he was definitely dead"

Whether this was a suicide bomber or not has not yet officially (as far as I know) been confirmed.

Would the presence of armed police (and possibly marksmen) suggest that this was one of the suspects from yesterday?

Yes, the chap saw 3 plain clothed policemen chasing this asian/ pakistani wearing a baseball cap and a large jacket. He was evidently shot at close range five times by what seemed to be a black automatic pistol by one of the policemen.

But why shoot him five times? Surely once would be enough to disable him. He's of no use if he's dead. Dead people cannot answer questions.

But what if he was just an innocent Asian young man carrying a backpack?

I know Griffin, doesn't bear thinking about. It's hard to say with so few details, but my first thought is that it can't be coincidence that armed police just happened to be there.

Well I sincerely hope the police don't open his bag and find nothing more sinister than a jam sandwich and packet of crisps :(

If you shoot him once, disabling him, but he is still able to make even some small amount of movement, he could set off a bomb.

So while you "don't shoot him five times" mob are writing out your complaints of excessive police force, I'll be running in the opposite direction of an explosion.

The Asian half tripped/half pushed onto the train as was running like "a frightened rabbit". One of the policemen unloaded 5 shots into him. This is only an eye witness report, but this chap was evidently sat only 5 yards away from the whole incident.

And if he really was a suicide bomber, where are the three others? They seem to setting off four at a time, so it stands to reason that somewhere in London there are three others.
