I take it that was the race at the Curragh where it lashed rain and one of O'Brien's nags was sent off odds on? To this day I've no idea why they fancied it so much.

No, it was at Leop and he was still fav at 11-8. The race you're thinking of, Famous Name was 4-5 and beat Jan Vermeer who was fancied to beat him and returned 5-4.

I presume we're talking European record? There's various US horses with amazing records (e.g. John Henry had 30 stakes wins).

It would be nice to have a table comparing like with like; USA; Europe: Asia;etc
