First season sires and other 2-y-o stuff 2014

First season sires, APPROVE, HELLVELYN and FAST COMPANY, represented in the Kempton 2.55 today.

Miss Brookie the dam of the HELVELLYN colt, Hell Of A Lord, has had four runners all of who won as 2-y-os.

The first crop still to get off the mark, yesterday's race was won by Cheerio Sweetie, very well backed, made all to win easily.

In the first at Dundalk this evening we have runners by LOPE DE VEGA and FAST COMPANY (2).

The filly by FAST COMPANY, Not Really, is out of Elegant Ridge who has produced the very useful Montiridge who won his first two races as a 2-y-o but they were over seven furlongs.

Just noticed that there is a 2-y-o race at Leicester (2.20) plenty of runners by first time sires; two by FAST COMPANY and one each for ZEBEDEE, STIMULATION, SHOWCASING and APPROVED.

The FAST COMPANY colt, Fast Act, is out of a mare who produced plenty of winners but they were not that successful at two.

Plenty of first crop representatives in the Wolverhampton 7.20.

ARABIAN GLEAM, FAST COMPANY, EQUIANO and ZEBEDEE all have runners.

The EQUIANO filly Macarthurs Park, is a half-sister to Three Sea Captains winner of a Listed 2-y-o event at the Curragh.

Still no winners for the first crops but Ellenvelyn (HELLVELYN) went close when third, beaten less than a length, at Cork yesterday.

STIMULATION, APPROVE (2), FAST COMPANY, VALE OF YORK and ZEBEDEE (3) have runners today.

BOING indeed, ED, as ZEBEDEE breaks the duck with Magical Roundabout at Windsor.

He was made to work hard for his win by Fine Prince, who was very unruly in the paddock before the race but showed plenty of speed in the race, will surely win a race.

SHOWCASING and STIMULATION (2) have runners today.

Lots of runners by first season sires today:

HELLVELYN, STIMULATION, SHOWCASING (2), FAST COMPANY, ZEBEDEE, APPROVE, PACO BOY, MULLIONMILEANHOUR and EQUIANO.

Two impressive debuts yesterday:

MIND OF MADNESS looked something special when winning at Newmarket and the form looks decent with previous winners in second and fourth and a joint favourite in third.

The form of CAPPELLA SANSEVERO in the first at Dundalk doesn't look as solid but the starting price of 4/7 and the ease of the win suggests there's plenty to come.

Makfi was so impressive as a 2yo that he was sold as an unraced individual! But I feel he may go close today with his runners.

No runners today and no winners yesterday but an encouraging debut by the SHOWCASING filly Clouds Rest. She started at 25/1 and gave her stablemate and even money favourite a run for his money, well away, showed good speed and was keeping on at the end.

RIP VAN WINKLE has his first runner today (Dick Whittington Tipp 5.00); others with runners ZEBEDEE, FAST COMPANY(2), ARCANO, VALE OF YORK(2), EQUIANO, PACO BOY and LOPE DE VEGA.
