First season sires and other 2-y-o stuff 2014

Thanks, Bar.

Being selfish here but it is easier for me to on a daily basis, no records to keep and doing it daily I'm less likely to forget to check the results.

Always nice to have feedback, negative as well as positive.

Yesterday there were two winners for LOPE DE VEGA and one each for ZEBEDEE and VALE OF YORK.

Today there are runners for PACO BOY(2), RIP VAN WINKLE(2), VOCALISED, ZEBEDEE, FAST COMPANY(4), EQUIANO(3), HELLVELYN(2),
SHOWCASING, STIMULATION(2), APPROVE and ESKENDEREYA.

I like it this thread, I always check in although don't usually have anything to add.

The only thing I'd like to see is the name of the runner(s) but given the volume, I appreciate that is probably too much work.

Thanks for the feedback, I have posted the names of the runners in the past but I felt it was rather long-winded (and time consuming, as you say) There is not much extra work in posting the names of the winners, if that helps.

Showstoppa was a winner for SHOWCASING yesterday.

Today there are runners for SHOWCASING(4), APPROVE(2), STARSPANGLEDBANNER(2), STIMULATION(2), RIP VAN WINKLE(2), MULLIONMILEANHOUR, PACO BOY, HELLVELYN, ZEBEDEE(2) and VALE OF YORK.

This I must do myself but being more computer and otherwise literate than me Colin you may have an easier way of doing so;
Comparing first season sires at this stage of the season with those of say the last 3 or 4 years.
This years crop of stallions seemed disappointing until mid June relative to sires the past few years vis a vis winners and races won.
Since Royal Ascot the top three are producing more winners and the results are more promising for the crop as a whole.
Like the others I check this every day and am still waiting for my early selection of "Champion first crop sire " Alfred Nobel to sire just one winner !

"This years crop of stallions seemed disappointing until mid June relative to sires the past few years vis a vis winners and races won.
Since Royal Ascot the top three are producing more winners and the results are more promising for the crop as a whole."

My feelings as well.

All I can do is post up the tables from the last couple of years and these seem to suggest that the better ones this year are doing better than the better ones over the previous seasons. (I hope that makes sense)

A winner yesterday for SHOWCASING(Rosie's Premiere).

Today there are runners for: ZEBEDEE, EQUIANO, VALE OF YORK, FAST COMPANY, RIP VAN WINKLE and ARCANO.

A site I visit regularly and have mentioned before is http://www.b2yor.co.uk/ .

Nick, who runs the site has opinions on the game and is not afraid to publish them. Some of his views are a bit left-field and some will not agree with them.

I have his permission to quote from his site and I will be doing this occasionally.

These are some of his comments after the Hamilton 2.15 yesterday.

"For Interest = Record so far for 2yos owned by 'Qatar Racing' (Maroon Colours & Gold Braid) is 4 wins from 34 runs by 15 different horses. Not including horses they have bought in such as Cajoling who has been well beaten in 2 runs since purchase (for a presumably unrealistic high amount). Horses spread between 9 different trainers. Only Likely seeming real better class depending on your view of Mind Of Madness. Only one runner for the in-house (proto 'Godolphin'?) set-up of Olly Stevens. His 2yos well behind schedule. 3 of the 4 wins in SP range 13/2 to 10/1. 13 x runners at between Evens and 5/1 have seen just a Single Win at 11/8f. Pipe Bomb (an odd name to choose) another poor run to add to the pile. Their main Bloodstock Agent - David Redvers - tweeted after Royal Ascot that he was glad to get back to being a 'Gloucestershire Farmer' for a few days to get away from the pressure of a Major Meeting with no wins. It probably did not seem like this in the 'Brochure' for the al Thanis. Money can 'get' you everything (including World Cups) they may have thought. As the, currently barely visible in major races, Godolphin set-up has shown over many years just having more money than everyone else doesn't get you to the 'Top' in Horse Racing. It would be a good time for the al Thanis to sit down and have a good think about what is 'missing' in Horse Racing that just throwing money at it does not always 'fix'."

Thanks for the link Colin... also appreciate the names and the timely (say monthly) reference to the main 2yo sires table (puts it in perspective).

Will read with interest his comments on Peacock, as 3rd won nicely at Newmarket and 4th won the Chesham. From what I've read he doesn't mince words.

Tachophobia was a winner for SHOWCASING yesterday.

Today there are runners for: ZEBEDEE(3), LOPE DE VEGA, EQUIANO(3), VALE OF YORK(2), FAST COMPANY and STARSPANGLEDBANNER.

Thanks Colin. Looks like a second foal for the unraced dam and I can't find a record of the first having run.
