Colin where are you!!

As you don't seem to be around and as in 2 years I've tipped Talent and Arab Spring (only) as horses to follow, I'll now be really stupid and put up an unraced 2yo. That should drag me down.

It's a filly called Thunder in Myheart and is by the 2nd season sire Mastercraftsman. Should get a mile in time. Worth watching. If Bell hasn't won with her after 2 starts review the situation.

Managed to sleep until seven, apologies.:)

Yesterday, winners for SIYOUNI (Rosalie Bonheur) and FAST COMPANY (Ticks The Boxes).

Runners today for: FAST COMPANY, ZEBEDEE(2), MAWATHEEQ, VALE OF YORK, HELLVELYN and PACO BOY.

Thunder In MyHeart entered in big sales races later in the season but no classic entries. Not a big fan of Michael Bell but that just a personal opinion.

Going back to Faydhan, I'm slightly surprised that the plan is the Gimcrack and it sort of reinforces my worry about stamina. I know that Rock Of Gibraltar won it but, to my mind, he was more stoutly bred than Faydhan and I'm not sure that the race is a natural stepping stone to the Guineas. What say you, Colin?

I think I'd prefer to see him over seven in September/October rather than that six in August. They are talking about another maiden before the Gimcrack and, if he is a baby, then three runs in 7 weeks is pushing it and not the programme you'd normally associate with a future Guineas winner.

I don't think going for the Gimcrack is a bad sign for a Guineas horse. What I do think it says is that he probably wouldn't be considered a 10-12f horse.
Plenty of good Guineas winners only ran over 6f as a 2yo. Used to be reckoned that 7f was pushing it with a Guineas horse as you might blunt his speed. I don't think many would ascribe to that these days.

Winners yesterday for VALE OF YORK(Thecornishassassin) and ZEBEDEE(Miami Carousel).

Today there are runners for: ZEBEDEE(2), VALE OF YORK(3), APPROVE(2), ARCANO(3), ALFRED NOBEL, MAKFI, FAST COMPANY(2), PACO BOY, SHOWCASING, STARSPANGLEDBANNER and EQUIANO.

VALE OF YORK on a run at the moment, two winners yesterday with Millar Rose and Little Rooster.

Busy day today with runners for: STIMULATION, EQUIANO(5), STARSPANGLEDBANNER, LOPE DE VEGA(3), PACO BOY, FAST COMPANY, VALE OF YORK(2), APPROVE(2), MAKFI and LORD SHANAKILL.

Colin and Eleanora, thanks for the responses. I think you're right that we've become more used to potential Guineas winners going a slightly different route. The horse couldn't be in better hands and we'll all learn a lot more with the next run.

Do not forget Archie that Mill Reef and Nebbiolo won Gimcracks in the 1970s.
Maybe the owner wants to make the Gimcrack Dinner Speech; that is how Rock Of Gibraltar got to run in the race.
It did him no harm whatever about the circus that followed !

As we said, fashions change and the Gimcrack just doesn't seem to be a normal route to the Guineas these days. I'm sure that Gosden will do whatever suits the horse best.
Other than the big races I'm not really up to speed on the flat, still less flat breeding but the Rock's breeding looks quite a bit sturdier than Faydhan's. However Faydhan doesn't know that and racecourse evidence in the next 3 months will be interesting.

Ivawood a classy winner for ZEBEDEE yesterday.

A few:blink: for today: FAST COMPANY(4), PACO BOY(3), STARSPANGLEDBANNER, ZEBEDEE(5), ARCANO, SHOWCASING(4), APPROVE(4), HELLVELYN, VALE OF YORK, RIP VAN WINKLE and STIMULATION.

Another triumph for the Tally-Ho stud. No reason why Zebedee's shouldn't get a mile if the distaff side has sufficient stamina. Ivawood certainly looks that way (plenty of nice Boussac blood on the bottom line)..

Excellent ride by Ryan Moore on Arabian Queen to beat the French hot-pot in the Cherry Hinton. Basically pinched the race by kicking on at exactly the right time enabling to get to the rail and High Celebrity couldn't make up the ground in the time available. Lovely stuff.

Two winners for APPROVE on Tuesday with Gerry The Glover and Ciars's Cookie.

A blank day for winners yesterday.

Today there are runners for: STIMULATION, VALE OF YORK, EQUIANO(3), SHOWCASING(3), LORD SHANAKILL, FAST COMPANY(2), LOPE DE VEGA and VOCALISED.

Interesting 2-y-o debutante at Newmarket this evening.

Vesnina by the successful young sire SEA THE STARS (over 50% winners to runners) out of a very strong female line that includes Russian Rhythm.

Owned by Cheveley Park and trained by Hannon appears to have a lot of positives but the fact that Hughesie doesn't ride and no strong support as yet suggests that today's run may be 'educational'.

The Roger Varian filly is very nicely bred as well.
