The same Southwell specialist Stav whose time-figures/picks for that track were a veritable goldmine? :adore:
 
Egged on by the good TRF egg NHughes, which is a tad surprising, but this sort of cliquey chumminess tends to happen once virtual friends i.e strangers actually meet in the flesh, as they did at Newton Abbot recently

I've been a member on here since 2011 Drone, and despite not being a regular poster I was looking in here at least 2 or 3 times a week on the racing section to see/read any interest of my boy Toronado. So it's not as if I joined the forum just to small talk with Wolf.
 
A tad unfair on my part good egg Nat, soz. A surfeit of black pudding for breakfast was the reason for my biliousness; too early to blame Tetleys:)

This Talking Horses place is quite a comfortable pad, doncha think? Be a good lad and add EC to Gamble's list of those 'lost at sea' will you?

A fine correspondent and speed/timefigure guru replete with a refreshingly honest admission that he couldn't make it pay, if memory serves
 
i make a bit now Drone..i've learned a bit of discipline through the years...redundancy focuses the mind too

Grass..why did you think i was Stav??..we did get banned at same time though..it was something with Clive involved..i made a comment that he was only digging at us because we were both pakistani's...it didn't go down well and plug were pulled there and then.

Those with long enough memories will remember Direct Racing..happy days

I remember Direct Racing, any idea what happened to it?

Do you remember Dean, The Bumper King? Im sure he was from there, He put some good priced winner up, remember a few 33-1 shots he put up being backed into single figures and winning by half the track!

Stav went mental because when someone started a thread asking what you would give a present to someone you hated

I suggested stavs speed ratings book

Multiple toys out of pram. Humour wasnt his strong point

it just disappeared overnight..oh yes..remember Dean very well..he was the bumper king.

Direct racing was really good..must be about 2000 to 2002..something like that..was gutted when it was no more.

do you remember the fly on the wall?..hilarious stuff

Do you know waht happened to Stav..is he still posting anywhere?

I must admit I didnt understand the ban at all and did try to get it reversed. It was I suppose a bit of culmulation of threads that got very agitated. I wasn't involved myself much. Not the level of racing that interested me
 
Direct racing, 12 years ago, ffs doesnt seem that long ago, but thinking about it it probably was!
For some reason i thought you knew who stav was ec1, no he doesnt really post anywhere now, think he winds a few people up on the betfair forum now and then, but thats it, the only other place i knew him posting was on teds forum, but havent been on for ages and hes never mentioned it, so not sure if he still goes on.

yep..it was a number of things to be fair..we didn't deserve being banned but thats the way it goes...looks like he could do with unbanning a few and building bridges from what i can see
 
No, you're right, 'tis certainly 3 years or thereabouts since Stav last called into Ted's shed. No disputes or unpleasantness or anything, he just faded quietly away like a beautiful rainbow on rainy summer's morning.

I think when you get older, have a family, you have less time to spend on forums and suchlike. He works alot, especially during the summer, and in the winter was running an under 16's football team and suchlike, ultimately some things get sacrificed, and posting on forums tends to be one of the first.

Problem forums have now is, anyone who is under say 25/30 has been brought up on bebo, myspace, facebook and twitter, and forums are 'boring'.

Personally I prefer specialist forums, unless you have thousands of friends or followers, you aren't going to get the same depth of discussion on social media. And Twitter....I have never been able to get into that whatsoever!
 
Was Stav's real name Peter?

If it's who I'm thinking of I met him at either Newbury or Ascot about 10 years ago.

I deleted my facebook account after 4 years about 18 months ago (Not long after joining here actually)
and have never been on Twitter
It just bored the living hell out of me reading poxy status's off 80% of people that I couldn't care less about.

Im 29 by the way.

The pace of both forums at present is a little slow so no harm in a visit here a visit there and even thehorsebox every other day gets a viewing although billion has gone on strike there at the same time he did TRF. I'll pass EC onto gamble although I'm not sure I'll understand his reply.......:D
