Irish Champion Hurdle Weekend

Have place-laid Faugheen. Based on his last run, I think there’s a chance the horse has lost interest.

As you know I laid him last time but this time they won't take any chances...they were going evens him being out of the first 4 as no one wants to lay him....he should be 1.08 I reckon you'll be pushed to get a lay at 1.2

Easy peasy for Min but shocking stuff from Townsend...the fooker had the hard neck to start riding the horse when it was all over.......made no effort to keep in touch or catch up.....disgraceful

You can still get 5/1 NRNB 3 places 1/4 odds My Tent Or Yours with Buveur. How the fu*k does he not fill one of the 2nd, 3rd or 4th places, if not coming 2nd ? There’ll only be about 8 runners.

Ch'tibello, Call Me Lord, John Constable :ninja:

Haha nah I see your point mate you did well to get that 13/2 I think. Is MTOY reported to be going straight to the festival or is he going to get a prep ? I can only think of the One at Kelso (More battle ? ) Or the Kingwell at Wincanton.

Reckon?

Punters are very fickle about good horses and tend to write them off if they don't do as expected or some thing goes badly wrong.

For example the amount of people who lost faith in Sprinter Sacre and reckoned no way could he bounce back and beat UDS.

Faugheen finished 2nd in a very good race. The very same race that Hardy Eustace in his latter years finished stone last in before running a brave 3rd to Brave Inca in the Champion Hurdle.

Willie Mullins is one of the best trainers of all time. Faugheen has come off the sick list and run a cracker and you can bet your bottom $ Willie didn't push the horse as hard as he would had this been March.

It makes me cringe when people write off top class horses just because they run a bit below their best.

The point is do not write off Faugheen just yet. If, and I am sure he will, Mullins works his magic and he is still the biggest danger to Buveur D'air by a long way.

Not too long ago y'all wrote off Binocular, Most bar Grassy gave MTOY absolutely no chance, Jezki had been stuffed by Hurricane Fly in the very same race faugheen just lost and couldn't possibly win

Both first and second very impressive in the bumper. They pulled well clear of a very good field.

Black Bow showed a tremendous turn of foot there. Rhinestone was 2 lengths behind one minute and 4 lengths the next.

You'd have to worry about him getting up the hill but held up a bit longer in March he'd have to be fancied.

But as for Rhinestone....under the tuition of a budding genius you can expect more improvement come March...cracking EW bet for the bumper at 9/1 or better

How do you make out it was a good race Tanlic?

What or who's running are you basing it through?

I think it was a good race. It seldom isn't. It's still a championship race and they are seldom not good.

I've only seen it through once, a few minutes ago. I'll get a closer look at the form and times later in the week but it looked to me like they should be very happy with Faugheen there. He looked to me to blow up turning for home and I imagine he will improve loads for the run.

Once I've crunched some numbers I'll have a better idea of whether he can beat Buveur D'Air but he probably could on his old form so maybe why not.

I was happy enough with John Constable's run too. He was only there to take advantage of any slip-up by the favourite rather than have a hard race and I'm still hopeful I can lay off the ante-post bet at shorter odds nearer the day.

What I meant was a very good battle/race from the home turn..few very good horses back there too

Not too much wrong with the winner either who is the last type you want to be going head to head with from 2 out as he will outstay you if you're not 100% not outspeed you.

Couldn't even tell you off the top of my head who finished 3rd and care even less. I saw what I saw and am convinced he's far from finished if he stays sound.

I also believe Buvi is a better hurdler than Faugheen ever was so no rose coloured glasses here viewing Faugheen

As one great seems to be on the wain another one is born.

Samcro - woosh!

Faugheen ran mid 160's.....Bauv is easily and probably the only horse capable of 170....but 8/1 has certainly got E/W bet to nothing possibilities!

That was utterly ridiculous. He obviously had every pound in hand that his chase mark suggested.

Will be interesting to see how the next 3 home are assessed.
