Ger Lyons on Twitter ...."Piri Wango is wrong at the weights & it is a big ask but I feel he's up to the challenge. If Slade Power gets the trip he's the danger"

Cannot let Topadee go unbacked at 10/1 in the low grade handicap. This mare has had her problems but has by far the best old form here and whilst she was entered several times on the all-weather never got to run due to balloting issues. Her half siblings Forgotten Hero and Copper Dock excel on this surface and she has shown a marked preference for a sound surface. If she's off she wins....thats a big if..would love to see buckets of dough for her late..

I think the complexion of this race at Dundalk will change inside final furlong-I think Slade Power needs a good pace to run at-if he is on the bridle 2 out they won't have gone fast enough. That's the theory anyway.

That was costly. I should know better than getting involved in these Dundalk mazes.

Tipperary

5.30 I can't see a reason to take on Canary Row. Surely this goes off odds on?

Annoyingly Boyles are top price on Balmont Mast in the sprint handicap (Tipperary 6.00). He finished last of 7 in this race last year but was some what an unlucky loser as he collided with the rail when leading inside the final furlong after trying to make all. His 3rd behind Nocturnal Affair in Dundalk over 5f last year is top class form with the winner who beat him a length now rated 113 and the 4th rated 110. Even the 5th a 50/1 shot was a good 3rd to Slade Power off of 97 albeit with Megan Carberry taking 10lb off. Balmont Mast will love the ground and unlike some of his rivals is best over 5f. He runs off of a revised mark of 96 after two poor runs this season but with Sam "5lbs of pure Gold Dust" taking 5 off he runs off 91. 8/1 (if available tomorrow) will be more than enough to tempt me in for a very good soft ground sprinter.

Decent looking card at Tipperary tonight. The odds on backers got some fright in the last two year old maiden run here last time so the opening maiden is probably best avoided. Good sprint handicap where Slim fancies Balmont Mast who would have a right chance - but the stands side holds a huge advantage here when the ground is soft and I thought Luisant ran very well last time at Naas and has serious form on this ground, 5F is probably a little on the short side for him but he has dropped to a mark off which he could be dangerous. The 5F maiden has a weak looking favourite in Sruachan who has strugggled to win and just may find one to beat it tonight. After the debacle of Dundalk last night I am attempting to get it back in one hit on Chicago in the 1m1f maiden. His second to Macbeth may not look bad form in time and at 5/4 available in a very average looking maiden makes him the standout almost by default.

Lusiant had never won over 5f so I put a line through straight away.

He has only run 4 times over 5F - He was second on three of those off marks ranging from 108 to 102 on ground ranging from the all weather at Dundalk to good at The Curragh in a listed race to good to firm at Naas. He has won 4 times, twice on the all weather and on Soft and Yielding to Soft on turf. I think he will pop up somewhere on soft / heavy ground this year and is worth a chance tonight off 84 with a reasonably favourable draw.

Given that I've managed to back a horse at 8/1 that's now 12/1 who am I to argue... I wasn't bothered about the draw too much because as he sometimes run prominent I thought he might come across.

There's an awful smell of Benji off my guess as well....not a penny for it. They are probably thinking Premier Handicap with him another day ...he has the perfect mark off 84. I hate backing non-jiggers....:(

If there was anything that could could put one leg in front of the other outside the first two in the betting in the second race.....but there isn't....

Not my usual style but I think Hartani is a bet here at 6/4.I thought that maiden dominated by Ox at The Curragh looked good to the naked eye.
Subsequently I heard Murtagh say their horses were expected to need the run.Being out of Shirocco is no harm either.

That was a highly entertaining finish. The commentator completely missed that the winner was dying on his feet and the second was doing his father proud.

I hope he's as effective in the 2000gn. I've never had a view on him, but whip in right hand really caused the problem.

Personally I think Murtagh is enjoying "schooling" young O'Brien. His day will come but right now he is still the apprentice to the master

Don't start me on Murtagh - he leans in all over the place and gets away with it everytime - he tries when he wants to... Not for me

Don't necessarily disagree with that but when he is trying he is still top of the heap in Ireland by a good way I'd say.

He's a tad too arrogant for me..I have a deep rooted dislike of him that I'm working towards ambivalence.... so as not to effect my judgement. I always seem to end up on the wrong side of finishes with him whether I'm on him or not. BOGEY:D
