****, picked the wrong one!

Saw that coming a mile away though.

In all seriousness, I got the impression recently that they want a 10f Group 1 for SNA. I was doubtful even before today (a weak Tattersalls notwithstanding).

Tantalising e/w in the next. Price is contracting, conditions should suit, first time blinkers, dropping in the weights. Decent place claims at least.

Joseph is trying to make it look as if he is the JP Magnier of his day . A ride of breathtaking ineptitude.

And the ride on Sharestan??????

If O'Brien had started his ride when Murtaugh did then St. Nic would have won. That was a poor ride by him but sure as night turns to day it won't be his last, he is still very young. It's just to bad that the best jockey at Ballydoyle does not get more opportunities. When he does though we saw today how it can go.

Both Murtagh and O'Brien gave the leaders too much rope but at least Murtagh realised it early enough in the straight. I'm not sure what the plan was. The cynic in me wonders if someone had a few bob on the winner. St Nic was "holding up" Sharestan until Murtagh kicked on.

If this was the case, it would have had to be the best secret ever as he went off 280 on Betfair and a smidge of cash for him at 66/1 would have toppled his price.

I just think Joseph was a moron.

The cynic in me wonders if Joseph didn't simply decide that with the two in front of him being stablemates it was up to someone else to hunt them down. In France these horses would have been combined on one ticket for betting purposes.

It's a result that could suit Ballydoyle quite nicely, Windsor Palace now has a Gr3 on his cv which might allow him to take up stud duties in some outpost of the thoroughbred world.

The Racing Post race analysis reports that "Aidan O´Brien was asked to explain the situation to the stewards afterwards in a running and riding enquiry. He told them he was training the dual Group 1 winner with the Coronation Cup in mind and this ground was against him."

What would he need to have told them in order to fall foul of the rule against using the racecourse as a training ground? He was a similar flop on his seasonal debut last year; according to the RPRs he ran in the Alleged Stakes more than 30lbs below what he ahieved in all of his susequent runs.

This is a very very good point. He surely has admitted to using the racecourse as a training ground.

Well, that same horse should have beaten Cirrus des Aigles in Dubai but for getting caught out of position around the bend. He looked clearly the better horse that day, so to say you don't rate SNA, you would then have to say Cirrus des Aigles isn't much cop either.

Nor are Sarafina, Sea Moon, etc.

Same thing happened him last year in the Alleged Stakes if I remember correctly - AOB will never get done for using the racecourse as a training ground - the horse was never going to bet beaten up to win a G3 on heavy ground - I have never hidden my admiration for C des A.
