Well done to those who flagged this. I joined in but wasn't as optimistic as the rest of you until the last few weeks. I'd say Joseph has had to put himself through a lot and don't imagine he could continue for much longer.

I think this is a misconception. It's not like he's struggling to get by or ride winners. He's rode the Guineas and Derby winner and obviously loves the job. That's hard to let go off. I'm sure he'll be happy to ride on next year and continue to work hard on his weight.

Those who remember Ado's exploits with Victram and with keeping one Andrew Lynch as a 7lb claimer have no doubts as to his ability. Ian Brennan a star.
Good for owner Sean Gallagher who has a prairie full of horses in training.

JOB must have a good head for pace as the majority of his winners this season have come from front running as opposed to coming late in the race

I had a mug bet on Mark Monaghan's mount in Meydan Skycruiser. He reeled in the front runner to win at 10/1. He will do wreck over there with a 7lb allowance.

Pretty average fare in Dundalk tonight anchored by a weak fillies Listed. The two divisions of the 6f handicap are absolutely desperate.

That said, I am very sweet on The Reek in Div 1 of the mile handicap at 8.00. Caught my eye big time in behind Red Laser two starts back, coming hom really well having been poorly positioned in what the sectionals point to as a steadily-run affair. She ran a highly creditable race the last night, given that she was ridden by Ross Coakley and - perhaps unsurprisingly - didn't get the clearest of passages.

Pat Martin looks to have learnt his lesson, given that he has Ronan Whelan booked tonight. Of the opposition Red Laser shaped as if still in form when last seen, prominent off a gallop that was probably slightly too strong; The Reek is 7lbs better off tonight than when they last met, however. Knights Templar is clearly in form but doesn't strike me as thrown in or anything like it (poorly drawn into the bargain); I thought she got the run of the race at Roscommon the last day.

The 8.30 looks by far the stronger of the two divides, but I thought Dancingwithangels looked big at 12's. Has to prove he goes on polytrack, but his two runs at Gowran suggest he could be on a fair mark.

In the 6f maiden I was surprised to see Rapid Approach as big as 8's this morning (I think) given that he was 11/2 for a hot Leopardstown maiden in which he didn't get the rub of the green. I'm still furious about letting a Bolger yolk with a name like Loch Garman go unbacked a 6/1 a few weeks back in Navan so I will steer clear.

Any fancies?

The 6.00 is all I'm interested in. English Deer was a max for me at 8/1 when entered up in a horrific maiden a few weeks ago but he missed that engagement due to ring worm. From stall 14 he can win away at a best price 9/2 this morning. In stall 13 Eddie Lynam's Sylvan mist was a non-jigger LTO and can be expected to make the best of his poor draw. The one I've backed is also Rapid Approach. He got completely cut off in Leopardstown by Chris Hayes and the feeling is he would have finished at least fourth in what I believe was a strong maiden. That would entitle him to be fav here and quotes of 8/1 were absolute madness.

Had a couple of quid on Like Magic in the next at Dundalk, decent draw and sure to appreciate stepping back up to 6f and the plummet down the ratings having run well on turf off 15lbs already in 2012.

Connor King is a name for the future. Won on his first ride yesterday after being a top pony race jock these past few yrs.
JP might do like Christy Roche in 97 and confine himself to riding at home( at 9st 2lb and over). Now he is champ he has little else to prove.
Best wishes also to Oisin Murphy, a top pony rider starting with Andrew Balding. He is Jim Cullotys nephew and spent the summer riding out in Ballydoyle.

Oisin Murphy rode his second winner tonight at Ripon 6.50 after his first last Sunday. Congrats to him!
Conor King has rattled up a good few so far this year while still at school.
Keep an eye out for him all summer.
