At least a couple of interesting races at Cork this afternoon.

PERFORMANCE trained by A.P.O'Brien makes his debut in the 2.10.

This son of Danehill Dancer is a full-brother to four 'black-type' winners.

In the Noblesse Stakes at 3.50 the 4-y-o Listed class SAPPHIRE takes on some very well-bred 3-y-o fillies including BETTERBETTERBETTER.

Ground in Limerick was terrible as usual. Some horses could not go on,over or through it. After his run last week he should have been left at home. To be fair the Derrinstown run was like a piece of work, early dawdle and quicken up; not a good race by any means.

Really like Royal Diamond in the Ulster Derby - up 19lbs for last two runs but think he still has plenty in hand based on the Midnight Soprano run. The ground would be the only concern but 6/1 factors that in.

Great. Just great. Bulbul runs tomorrow. Going to have to back her to win fortunes despite KPs horses running absolute dirt tonight. Not that I backed any.

Surprised by the lack of comment on the JP O'B ride in the last in Rossie tonight?? Heaven forbid if Tom Queally did it....this forum would melt down with the hating!

I thought the best horse won the race, having been held in by Murtagh up the straight, it flew home. O brien looked to have won the race, may have got tired in the ground and may be a bit of a monkey, and still looked to have won on still frame. Smullen traded at 15 last show in betfair market in photo. I thought it was more of a case of a great rattle late on by Smullen than o brien doing anything drastically wrong.

I like queally by the way. Just thought I'd include that.

Thought Murtagh really unlucky in the listed race earlier on the oxx horse in second. Swore it was up. Pocket talk too

Murtagh was never up in my opinion. I've no idea how Joesph got beat in the last. The commentator was very slow to pick uphow easily he travelling. I was on the 3rd e/w. I was certain it was unplaced. It's some angle at that gaff.

Dont knock it Slim. There was some crowd there by tv picture. I went last sept; an absolutely awful day but very well supported locally. Great to hear the local accents . Grade 1 tracks dont get that kind of a crowd to an all flat card here.

I didn't mean 'gaff' in a derogatory sense. I've no problem with the track. One of my favourite races in Ireland is the chase at Roscommon that's a clue for the Galway Plate. I hope to get there racing done day.

Very interested in Bulbul myself. Like the current profile, as in 45 days off the track (not sure if that was because of injury, you may know Slim, but would think/hope it was to freshen her up), rated 97 I would think she's closer to a 105 rated animal. Her best form is with cut in the ground, being by Shamardal that's no surprise. At the predicted sp shes a bet. I'll be on as well Slim..........so she's rightly f****d!!

A trainer once told me before that when the ground cuts up, follow KP. Have to say, I've sided with this at times and found it to be pretty spot on. Particularly in maidens.

Middle of July. The rain that fell last night around 10pm was biblical. No cyling and no racing today. I'm struggling to get out of bed.

5 declared for the 7.30 tomorrow. The bookmakers card is well marked with After like to be 4/5 or less and Bulbul 6/1 on the first show. I'd have rathered the race was in Fairyhouse than Naas.

I really didn't understand the money for the Kevin Prendergast horse Lucked Out this morning. A €9k gelding was not going to be winning a 2yo maiden at Leopardstown. Look out for Lucked Out in a maiden restricted by purchase price in Bellewstown in July.

Good call-did you back him.

12/1 and 33/1 winners in the openers at Naas.......Heavy ground really does throw up the strangest results...wouldn't want to be a fav backer today.
