Kauto Star

Paul Nicholls is what he is, and obviously won't 'shut his mouth' in the same format that a Jonjo O Neill will.:)

The day he has no owners or employers left is the day he'll need to regret it. Until then......

from today.

I was always on the side of Clive Smith and Kauto but respect to PN he's been man enough to more or less admit he was being a dick.

Not a dick when it comes to training though yet another PN successful Saturday.

There's got to be a bundle to be made following him blind at the weekend

Paul Nicholls is one of those trainers who would have twice the respect he has if he kept his gob shut

the comment he made after the national about Henderson was another poor moment for him..can't remember it now but basically when he should have been celebrating the big race win he was more bothered about putting it up Henderson re the title..or should i be familiar and say "Nicky";)

After the National he said we've blown Henderson out of the water.

I'd like to see the statistics to back this up. I'd love to lay every Nicholls horse that ran at weekends at SP.
You may well be right but it does seem he wins at least a few every Saturday.....I have no idea what the statistics are it would be interesting to find out.

A few Saturdays like last and you might not be able to afford a twix

Those who have sided with Clive may well wish to do a Cameron style U-turn when they read a piece under Ditcheat head lad Clifford Baker's name in the paper later this week.
If anyone who knows me wants the story, email me.

I could tell you a story, but my need for employment is pressing...

I don’t really see what the fuss is about. What could there be to know that would change bare facts. Usually stables haven’t got the room to look after retired racehorses, so it’s the exception rather than the rule that Nicholls wants to keep him at the yard. On the whole it is better to keep racehorses doing something though, so if Clive Smith wants that it may well be better for Kauto anyway.

Nicholls is more than a bit self indulgent at the best of times. He claims to be embarrassed by the episode and yet doesn’t miss an opportunity to rub salt into the wound.

What does it matter anyway? Nicholls lot clearly in the wrong and acting totally unprofessional. Couldn't care less what the true story is, it is all a storm in a tea cup.

As yer man said

Whatever other information may be at hand, how could it change the bare facts? Smith is the owner and has decided he wants to keep Kauto active rather than kicking his heels. Cloak and dagger stuff does nothing to change this.

He would have been perfectly active had he been kept at Ditcheat, so that's not really a particularly valid argument. It's not the fact that Smith has taken the horse off to do dressage - it's about what had been agreed months ago and which was obviously reneged on.

And if you want your horse to go off and do dressage, then great, go ahead. Sending him off to Yogi Breisner and Laura Collett is way over the top other than because you want to make a very public point and keep the focus of attention on yourself. The guy's a publicity junkie, which is a bit sad. However, when all is said and done, the horse is his to do with as he likes, as long as the horse's welfare isn't compromised.

Is it a possibility that he is being 'freshened up' before being put back in training with a trainer other than Nicholls?
