King George VI Chase - Boxing Day, Kempton

Back in the day Mackeson / Hennessey / King George was the route for emerging well handicapped improving horses like Batchelors Hall and Bright Highway.

Second season chasers both if I recall correctly but then I was just an impressionable lad. ( Still am when given the chance )

take your SNIDEY LITTLE comment and shove it up yer arse len madeiros

when i read stuff like that from smart arses..i wonder whats the point on here

If they all turn up this is race of the season, hands down. Can't see the Gold Cup being as strong since those that lose here will more than likely be choosing alternative targets at the festival.

Throw in DP, RTR and Djackadam and it really won't dilute things

All three of those you mention are subject to owner decisions when it comes to the festival which is another reason the Gold Cup will be diluted. Not sure what Gigginstown would do if Don Cossack won this though, knowing they've probably sent Vautour & Cue Card to the Ryanair in doing so. They'd be pretty much forced to abandon their own race & run three, possibly four in the Gold Cup.

Don Cossack would be the only one you'd imagine would revert back anyway. The others don't strike me as Ryanair horses.

2nd and 3rd in last years race and last years RSA winner. I'd be pretty certain all will run in the GC in March

He'll do well to win that off top weight on his seasonal debut and with one or two of the other main Gold Cup contenders likely to enhance their claims at Kempton it's not hard to envisage his price lengthening during post Xmas.

Well, I don't fancy Vautour or Don Cossack overmuch for Kempton so it's equally possible DP could be second fav behind Coneygree before the end of the year.

Aintree is his plan, next weekend

Do you know is Valseur Lido lining up for the Becher too?
Initially I fancied Don Poli for this, but then seen VL was also entered. The latter could be chucked in off his mark. I'm just not entirely sure he'll be as suited to the fences as Don Poli. I would expect Don Poli to really thrive around there. Weight won't be an issue, unless he's seriously under-cooked fitness wise.

I don't think DP is headed for the Becher, I'm sure I read somewhere he's in a race at Aintree on the Friday instead.

Interesting, cheers Euronymous. Valseur Lido could go to the Becher so.
Strange if neither go. I don't understand these entries sometimes when there is really no intention of running.

Oh and FWIW, I can't see Don Poli going for the KG personally. The Lexus is the perfect race for him. Grind them all down!
