King George VI Chase - Boxing Day, Kempton

His subsequent run around Newbury's 3m was hardly from the top drawer, either.
Love Coneygree to bits, and he has to be near the top of any sensible Gold Cup list, but his defining performance came in very different circumstances to 3m on g/s at Kempton.

Agreed Euro but my point is he's relentless and any semblence of a mistake will be punished, the Gold Cup was similar in that horses with previous excellent race form were completely detached and never got into it. The trainers will know that and be aware that the majority of big races in the season are still ahead. Of course they'll need to tackle it at some point but Kempton will play to his strenghts IMO - regardless of what connections have previously said.

Like I said, it's only a gut feeling and I'll more than happily be proved wrong if Vautour's there next week.

FWIW I think Don Cossack and Cue Card will sweep past Coneygree in the straight, with the former going on - whether Vautour's there or not.

Then Vautour will literally take the Ryanair field apart.

Easy

I`ll be there with my team guys if anyone fancies a drink. Although Peter Bowens lergy is definitely on the wane cant see us having a runner there

The owners are now pleading poverty for the 10k supplement! Some clown from the RP is actually suggesting that the sponsors should pay it for them!! WTF.

Would it not be in any sponsor's interest to "invite" such a horse to run by paying the supplementary fee or even make it part of the sponsorship deal ?

just thinking out loud here; thoughts ?

They would be better served to lay on a computer course for the bradstocks

Give a man a fish, teach a man to fish....

It's hardly surprising - the horse has only earned them £450K in eleven races.

Don Cossack practically now 100% confirmed for the King George if Elliot's comments anything to go by. He thinks Vautour the one to beat ("If he stays").

Its probably a lot to do with the fact that Leopardstown and Lexus were offering a lot more, why shouldn't they put their hand out , look at the feckers getting a lot more than £10k for switching on Christmas tree lights

Do they seriously think they will find an ar*sehole big enough to pay the supplement on their behalf, because they were too stupid/incompetent to make the KG entry in the first place?

If they do, let me know who has shelled for it. It's been a while since I rolled-out my "Nigerian Prince/Money Tied Up in Oil" routine.

I don't think they'll pay the 10K, its a big sum for them and too strong competition, better make a trip and take only Don Poli.

Just to play devil's advocate but there is an argument that it's the least they're due after the debacle at Plumpton last year, though that wasn't the sponsors fault of course.

Sarah Bradstocksays Coneygree schooled well this morning. Gallop tomorrow, decision whether to run at Xmas tomorrow evening.

Don't forget Road To Riches.
I almost did few days ago, I wnet to search his form as I couldn't remember if he had a race this season.. of course not to be discounted but the 10K will make the difference if they had to choose taking on Don Cossack or RTR/Don Poli.

You're fierce forgetful altogether. Don Cossack, AND VAUTOUR :D

Considering the 10k supplement and the likely ground conditions at Leopardstown he should be coming over to the Lexus. Opposition makes little difference in my opinion. They shouldn't be afraid of anyone. Gold Cup winner, he's the one everyone else should be hoping to dodge.

But they'll do their own thing thing. Always do. I just hope we see him race somewhere over the xmas period. It will be all the better for him.

Maybe Ricci and Mullins should stump up the 10k. With Coneygree in the field they'll find out everything they need to know about Vautour.

I'd be for chopping their feckin hands off! They have had a massive strike of luck with the horse...won a fortune...and are pleading poverty! Clowns.

When you consider the amount of money some of these flat horses win, those two sales races at Newmarket at the end of the year especially. Maddening considering what a hero this horse is to the racing public.
