Leopardstown 2013

Defy Logic and King Vuvuzela both broke Blackstairmountain's 2m1f chase course record at Leopardstown yesterday. 4m and 4m3s to his 4m7s.

Sizing Europe is undoubtedly a great horse, but I think the market view is fair enough, to be honest.

He's dropped back to 2m today - after looking like he wanted 2m4f at Gowran - and he meets a race-fit, in-form, progressive opponent. I suppose there remains a question-mark about AL going left-handed, but age withers them all eventually; speed often being the first tool to be blunted, and in the twilight of his career, it's reasonable, in my opinion, to question whether SE still has to toe for a top-end 2m chase.

I'm a huge SE fan, but if AL does not win this today it will say a lot more about him than it does the near 12 year old.

That being said, he will run his heart out and am excited to see him. He will likely place.

Maybe it's Mullins way of telling Ricci who is in charge, when it comes to his Champion Hurdle runners.

The Tullow Tank and Moyle Park have the market between them in the Future Champions this afternoon, but I think both might be a touch vulnerable. The former looks like an embryonic staying-chaser to me, and despite looking impressive in his maiden, Moyle Park didn't beat a great deal by very much, and was all-out to win his bumper at Punchestown.

All things considered, the winner does seem likely to come from one of the pair, but I'll roll the dice with Art of Payroll (75/21 Win/Place) - mainly because he has a sliver of form with Diakali, and that's a horse I have a lot of time for.

An outsider may not be a bad way to go in this one as I reckon Gambling Girls run last time was way to bad to be true

He's just 8 months older than when 5.5l behind Sprinter Sacre over 2m, earning an RPR of 173 - within 3lbs of his best ever.

One day we'll unearth a horse that we do agree on, reet.

PS. The 19L between them 9 months ago not worthy of a mention then? :)

Very odd race - Sizing Europe undoubtedly got very tired perhaps went too quick. Kid Cassidy back to his not even turning up form and Benefficient once again under the radar and winning. Surely he is the horse for the Ryanair with CC staying on the GC route after his gallant Jewson win.

Good on the Tank. Maybe they will avoid Cheltenham with him this year

Would appear he will and it's either supreme or the 2.5 race
