Leopardstown 2013

Bobs Worth just keeps finding, and will surely outstay everything in the Gold Cup. Silviniaco Conti commands respect, but - surprised as I am to say it - I think Tidal Bay might be his biggest danger - though he's had a tough race today, and he isn't getting any older.

That apart, Bobs Worth looks nap material in the Gold Cup.

The three you mention are all proper Gold Cup horses. These are the type that should be contesting it. If Long Run were to return to form he is still young enough to make an impression also.

Hopefully connections of Cue Card will be realistic and aim for a follow up in the Ryanair. I'm doubtful he'll place in the Gold Cup.

I'd take Silviniaco on proper soft, but Bobs Worth on anything quicker.
More evidence (if it were needed) from BW and Tidal Bay today that the Betfair Chase was nothing like a proper test.

If the Gold Cup was run on decent ground and they went a pace BW would be very vulnerable because he'll get outpaced eventually and on good the horses in front won't be slowing as much as they did last year.

SC I still don't think is good enough.

That strikes me as utter tosh . The Albert Bartlett and the RSA were hardly crawls . As I was rightly reminded above he travels well on good ground.

The RSA wasn't run at a crawl but it was far from a true run race, First Lieutenant didn't settle that well. The AB is pretty irrelevant.

A similar performance to today and nothing will touch Bobs Worth at Cheltenham. Sir des Champs was badly outpaced and found very little so Silviniaco Conti would seem the most likely to chase him home.

Lord Windemere, Lyreen Legend and Unioniste are not good enough.

Cracking days racing tomorrow.
HF vs Jezki vs Our Connor in the Ryanair but some other cracking races.
A lot of really strong favourites. Can't wait.

Long Run needs to start now - he has always been enormously overrated since the 2011 GC where he beat a declining Denman and a convalescing Kauto and an injured Imperial Commander.

He was stuffed twice by Kauto that autumn even though the old boy was a stone below his best . He then won a weakish KG last year only due to the mud .

This was SDC's first proper run of the season and he took time to hit his stride last year as well. On a decent surface at Cheltenham we'll see a totally different animal and he's more of a threat than Silviniaco Conti who beat a non stayer and a horse who didn't act on the track at Kempton. The Gold Cup is a totally different test.

Really looking forward to seeing Our Conor today. HF not that impressive this season and I'm not a fan of Jezki, so I think he'll win and go to the top of the CH market.

I think we'll see today that Our Connor is behind the older horses.Never been a Fly fanatic but I see him just having too much of a kick around here.

nicholls said tidal bay goes straight to the national.

i said this on here last year after his lexus win, it's annoying nicholls won't let him take his chance in the gold cup. it's not so fanciful to think he could place or even win if it came up soft.

I'm also frustrated Tidal bay won't run in the GC. He's a long time fav of mine even though I hated his erstwhile trainer. I hope they reconsider but I doubt it. He'd be right up there in the weights as well for the national and I think it's a big ask.

Thousand Stars classy in his own right, and capable of exposing any under-performance amongst the new breed, yet he is wholly overlooked in the market. The 12/1 to place is far too generous, and I've backed that and the HF/TS forecast at 27.

Greatest NH horse in history, would have probably beat Frankel in the Champion Stakes.
