Best days racing of the year in Ireland.

Fondly remember 1997 when Dorans Pride, See more Business, Istabraq, Danoli, Imperial Call, Jodami, maybe even Commanche Court graced the races all on one day.

You would get it rarely anywhere else.

That was the first time I ever saw racing on television that interested me

Let's Dance is the bet of the meeting for me. Mullins horses always come on for a run in my opinion and think this will have come on plenty. Hopefully win this and then my AP bet for the Triumph will look very tasty :)

He will need to come on a lot to beat Ivan though..LD was under a drive whereas Ivan was just hands and heels ride..first run over hurdless too..so he will have a lot more to offer...LD will need major chops to beat him imo. will be some race..can't wait

Ivanovich Gorbatov is the reason BJ Geraghty stays in Ireland this Saturday!! Add into the mix the fact they think there's huge improvement to come from him & you have one very exciting prospect. Seemingly a lot of lads in Mullins yard got badly burn on LD, they were shocked he got beat!! This is Joseph O Brien on IG;

Ivanovich Gorbatov was a natural from day one," said O'Brien. "He jumped brilliantly from the word go and that's a huge asset. We thought he would run well at Leopardstown but, to be honest, he didn't have an ideal preparation for the race so we think there's a fair bit more improvement to come from him.

"When you have a horse of his ability on the Flat who jumps so well it's hard not to get excited.

"He has a very strong constitution and takes absolutely everything in his stride. He doesn't bat an eyelid at anything."

Meade on RTR

"He worked after racing at Punchestown on Sunday and we were absolutely delighted with him. Bryan rode him and he came in with a smile on his face, I was delighted and Eddie O’Leary was delighted, so we were all happy which doesn’t happen very often! It’s all systems go for Saturday and hopefully back to the Cheltenham Gold Cup from there. I couldn’t be happier with him.

when you look at the other 2 mile handicaps run on the day Ivan won..its not hard to see why anyone who makes time figures would be thrilled by his performance.

Up to two out..Ivan ran the fastest time of all four 2 mile races that day..including Long Dog..and Long Dog's race was a decently run affair..100.7% finish.

From 2 out..Ivan also ran the fastest finish of the 4 races beating Long Dogs finish from 2 out by 3.5 lengths..thats after running 2 seconds faster to 2 out than Long Dog. The weight difference is wfa..so its fair to say that Ivan is some tool.

The handicap hurdle won by Copy that was a strongly run affair with a slower 96% finish..the two that fought out the finish came from off the pace as you would expect. Ivan ran 3.5 seconds faster than that handicap to 2 out..and then..a staggering 3.5 seconds faster just from 2 out to finish.

Its an awesome display for a FTO juvenile

Incredibly efficient hurdling as well.

extremely

when i did figures for this at xmas i had to triple check them as i couldn't believe them..i'll be very disappointed if he isn't up to Our Conor level. The race itself has been a little goldmine as posted on the Juvenile Hurdlers thread.

i'd put a mark of 155/157 on Ivan based on that run..which would win most triumph hurdles comfy. Our Conor was given 161 after winning it..but he didn't put a figure as big as Ivan has done FTO or 2nd run ..he put a large figure in in the Spring Hurdle itself

I think Wounded Warrior is massively overpriced at 20/1 for Saturday's Irish Gold Cup.

He was second to Don Cossack on his seasonal comeback at Thurles over 2m4f which would have been way to short for him. That and a racecourse gallop should have brought him on no end and i'd expect him to fill a place on Saturday.

His Cheltenham 3rd & Punchestown 2nd read good now & the return to 3m should be right up his street.

Has the look that Gigginstown could fill the first 3 places.

Anyone know why this meeting has been moved forward by a week and more annoyingly to a Saturday ? Rugby ?

Was a Saturday last year too, I think

Someone better tell Barry Geraghty as he said that he couldn't wait until Sunday to get ON IG again

No it was a Sunday - 8th Feb day after McCoy announced his retirement after riding Mr Mole to win the Game Spirit .

It's the same weekend as always but it moves around between the Saturday and the Sunday depending on the rugby fixtures
