ooh..conflict of view on pace..one says dawdle..one says even...one says fastest early they can remember..well thats clear as mud then:)

can you judge this by eye i wonder?

They set off quite fast early then slowed it right up. The fact that Sam Winner was still on the bridle so late on tells it's own story.

4 of the first 5 home have run to pretty much their OR's in a slow overall time (even allowing for the ground). Road To Riches still needs to improve considerably IMO to trouble the judge at Cheltenham. I'd rather back him to do that than Bob's Worth to come back to his best.

I'd be very disappointed with Bobs Worth after this.

They dawdled round and the pace setters fought it out.

not really a dawdle tbh..you were right about a lull..not a big one though..tough early pace

F1 - F4 = 14 lengths faster than even pace
F4 - F7 = even pace
F7 - F10 = even pace
F10 - F14 = 5 lengths slower than even pace
F14 - F16 = 3 lengths slower than even pace
F16 - Finish = even pace

..a decent test imo..

59% of the race was run evenly
12% run 14 lengths too fast
29% run 8 lengths too slow

time only matters in jail though

What are you basing your even pace figures on?

And give the time only matters etc etc pish a rest will you.

Lord Windermere is this seasons LW.
Not beaten that far on ground he hated. JC spent a good time checking the home straight looking for the best ground and there was not any.
Any horse in that race can turn the form around with what finished ahead of him; delighted for Noel Meade though.
A thoroughly enjoyable race

Good luck, Luke. RtR is unproven at Cheltenham as well of course but he still looks a more likely contender than CL to me at this stage. Happy with the 20/1 ew.

Lot to like about RTR and the fact that he will go on fast ground sets him apart from previous winners of this race like Beef or Salmon and Pandorama.

Yes, largely agree. Sunny Jim is shaping up as a very focused trainer.

You certainly wouldn't get rich backing his short priced favourites on an ordinary race day.The owner of Lord Windermere seems to be an incredibly patient man who has punched well above his weight with the relatively few horses he has.
