If you genuinely believe someone has mental problems and are genuinely trying to help, surely a personal pm to that person would be a better way of saying it rather than posting it on a public thread?

It has nothing to do with 'who's dads biggest'. I am listening to your points too, and haven't taken 'sides', I'm just trying to get people to calm down a bit and disagree nicely. This is the most current thread where this is happening which is why I posted in here, but it isn't the only one, and you/EC aren't the only people involved.

A reasonable point - but that wouldn't have the effect of also persuading those who are blindly supporting the actions in question to have a think about what they are doing. Hence the public post - it's not going to happen just because I point it out.

That's clearly untrue, simmo. I'm all for reasoned debate and find disagreement healthy. It's what keeps threads going. I do get frustrated that some people tend to couch the terms of their disagreement in terms of presenting an opinion without anything to back it up and then just stick to it, doing no more than trying to pick holes in others' evidence. I suspect a lot of EC1's frustration has similar roots. IIRC, the original Rooster Booster thread ran for over 50 pages - a forum record back then - and I'm not sure there were many, if any, nasty posts. Some folk clearly thought I'd lost my marbles but they implied it with evidence to counter what I was saying rather than bald utterances of an unpleasant nature. Why can't it always be that way?

I can query EC1's findings till the cows come home (in their own time) but I would be horrified if I thought he took it as abuse. I don't think he is over-reacting to some of the things said to him on here and references such as 'drama queen' are not helpful in the context of this debate.

Yes., spot on euro. He's a class above with these animals. Understanding, attention to detail and most importanty, how long he keeps them at the too of their game.
 
I still think the current bunch of staying chasers are a disappointing lot and I was trying to be charitable by saying that perhaps we had been spoiled by a string of top top class staying chasers since the mid 1990s See More Business, LLT, Best Mate , and Kicking King culminating in Kauto, Denman and Imperial Commander - perhaps that is why the current bunch seem so ordinary .
 
And GC winners tend to be - generally - no great shakes. They get a great run at Cheltenham on the day and fade from the overall NH picture. The race itself takes a great deal out of them.
 
Lexus and Topaz chases were run in very similar times over the same distance if a day apart.
EC1's sectionals for Lexus were revealing -- to my eye the Topaz seemed so much slower.
Will be interested in Nick Mordin's view -- a time guru-- time matters little it would seem in N.H.however.
B.G. says B.W. hated the tacky ground and does not write him off.

Unprovoked? you can not be serious? Your initial posts were sarcastic in this thread and reveal the prerequisite existentialism of your inner hades. You could have brushed Simmo comment about your "Time only matters in Jail" aside, which if not sarcastic I don't know what is.

Instead you continue your obnoxious behaviour by repeating it in huge letters with the intention of antagonising.

Finally you pull each and every member up for not wanting to get involved in your imaginary war with Simmo who quite frankly did nothing more than point out you were being sarcastic which you were.

As far as Cliques go there is no such thing on a forum. What you do get is people who share similar views about horse racing and the odd person who thinks differently so you have conflict......it's got nothing to do with ganging up on people or disliking anyone it's just the way the forum views are balanced.

With you I am beginning to think it's best we plug the chair in and get over with.

We all have our faults and most of us know them but you seem to be blind to your own and very aware of everyone elses

The man frequently admits his faults, more than anyone else I know of on the forum, and contributes more genuine debate to the forum than anyone else.

I think EC1 was a devoted and intelligent poster, Maruco.

Although a bit like a footie team, no one is bigger than the forum/team. I don't mean that in any bad way towards the fella. I'm just making the wider point.
Many people have come and gone from these places, some of the best and brightest are no longer here.
That is life. If he returns then great, but if not then so be it....

Doubt anyone wants to drive him away, Marco, and his departure was entirely of his own volition and making.
Just some recognise the baggage he brings with him, and are probably less culpable than those who constantly ignore it's existence.

EC1, given you'd jumped down my throat before I'd done not-very-much other than respond to the main-point of the thread, you didn't really give me much chance, did you? And I've nothing to be ashamed of anyway. I'm not a Moderator, and don't expect to be given a hard time for not acting like one. There's zero profit in taking sides in these types of discussions, because someone is going to think your a wanker one way or the other......and as I said earlier, the perps are grown-ups, and I therefore leave it to themselves to sort out.
