Looking ahead to the NH season 2015/2016 proper

See what you are saying Grasshopper but he jumped like a buck at Kempton, regardless of what happened to the others.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with his jumping. I didn't mean to infer otherwise when I said "more emphasis on jumping.....". It's more that Newbury and Cheltenham take more jumping i.e. are a sterner jumping-test than Kempton is, and those tracks would play to his strengths even more - precisely because he jumps so well.

Am I making sense?

Who the fu*ck knows.

... and Road To Riches, Felix Yonger, First Lieutenant, Twinlight and Clarcam are among the entries for the Oil Chase.

Not pleased about this. First Lieutenant should be feet up with his pipe and slippers by now.

Felix Yonger will probably be a bet in this assuming the ground is relively ok.

Kempton's a speed track, and Coneygree's a galloper. Beating horses 2 or 3 classes below him around there is no proof at all is he capable of similar at the highest level.
Imo, he'd struggle to win a KG without a massive amount of help from the ground (which is unlikely, anyway).

I don't believe the computer glitch story for a nanosecond.

The word going around was that they had no intention of running him in the race. maybe they intended to enter him just in case and since it wasn't a priority on his programme it slipped their mind to enter him but the computer story is just PR sh1te.

Simonsig definitely lines up tomorrow with Geragthy up. 7/4. Irving is 2/1 second fav & Top Notch next at 4/1. Irving already declared for the Elite & with Top Notch seemingly primed for a graded hurdle race in France next week on softer ground it'll be interesting if the 7/4 holds.

Simonsig supposed to be in fine fettle but very fresh so I suppose they'll be hoping to bury him behind a few horses.

As much as the absence worries me I think he's more than capable of winning this tomorrow and kickstarting a career that promised super star status after that Arkle win.

Unless Purple Bay is still injured I don't see how he won't be odds-on. Howevr I don't think Irving and Top Notch will line up. As far as I know it's a 4 horse race with Simon, Royal Boy, Purple Bay and Bobs Worth.

Irving is definitely going to Wincanton. Top notch aimed at Auteuil on 15th Nov. Purple Bay biggest Danger so it seems.

Not that it matters much & they still have to do it once they get to the track but Simon gave Hargam a 15L thrashing at home recently on their grass gallop. Hargam mightn't be the best yard stick, probably a tad off the top but it encourages me to think Simon still holds onto some of his ability.

Not 100% positive but think 12f. A lot of them see him as Queen Mother horse this year. He still has to do it tomorrow at the track.

they're still talking about king george's which would contradict that.

see what happens tomorrow i guess. not going to read too much into it though after 2 and a half years off the track.

He has to be taken on here
He looked decent in 11/12 and 12/13 but let's not get overexcited about his form, That field for the Arkle was dire
Anyway itl be commissioned for me.

They're talking about everything really. Geraghty, in his blog on ATR sums it up perfectly when he says he could go either way this season. Step up to 3m or back to 2m because he's so versatile. I know Hendersons head lad Corky Browne thinks it would be a mortal sin to even think of stepping him up to 3m but again it's all going to hinge on tomorrow, how he settles, travels & finishes his race.

Aintree is a flat speed track so maybe an indication what way they're thinking of at this stage by starting him back there.

Still takes some horse to win an Arkle with a lung infection.

News of some of the John Hales horses at Ditcheat

Aux Petits Soins continues to go back to the vets in Bristol to have his sinus washed out but we are looking at a hurdle season debut at Ascot 20/21 November. He continues to keep with his training programme so we will not really know his level of fitness until he has a racecourse gallop. I have been getting good vibes from Ditcheat re Rob Robin who had an operation for paralysis of the Larinx. Be Daring should continue to show improvement on his only start to date when he was second in a Bumper. Al Ferof is making real progress and he is due to make his season debut in the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon. Ibis de Rheu is making real progress and I am looking forward to seeing him run in a novice hurdle before the end of November. Unioniste is being prepared for the Becher chase at Aintree to give him experience over the National fences. Politiloge will also make his debut in the UK in a Novice Hurdle
