Looking ahead to the NH season 2015/2016 proper

hurdles course was riding faster than the chase course on day one..just checked back..hence winge by ruby re supreme..chase course was just in the good range..whilst hurdles was top end of good..not fast ground though in either instance,,just faster than what they normally face throughout the winter. ..day 3 had got to be just good to firm..day 4 soft

day 2 last year was similar to day 1 on chase course..again hurdles was faster.

ground wouldn't be a worry in the CC imo..will be similar or slower would think..

well..its all luck re the ground as far as it being slower..look at GC day this year..that rain only had to come on the first day and the whole meeting would have been soft. i just don't see any instance where the ground is going to be fast..they will pour water on if so..if it hadn't rained last year on GC day it would have been watered for instance even though on day 3 it was only just GF..pretty good there at knowing his ground is the COC..in fact..compared to 90% of courses..bloody excellent

tingle creek next stop for simonsig

they should consider a hurdles campaign for bobs worth unless he runs a big race in the hennessey. the staying chase division is loaded this season and he could be a player in something like the world hurdle.

Pp Tingle Creek odds.
Could well be 2 greys coming to the last hard on the bridle.

Exactly my thoughts, how many horses have won 4 different races at the festival?

He is isn't he.
Would she be ready for a test like this yet do you think? I know he'll be giving loads of weight, but he's going to pour it on.
SDR aswell. Can't wait.

Can't help but think that if Coneygree was trained by Mullins/Nicholls/Henderson he'd be a helluva lot shorter for the Gold Cup than his current 7/1

Coneygree is such a likeable horse.
Absoloutely. I think I'm probably right in saying 99.9 percent of horses that do the donkey work up front, (and that includes some wonderful horses down the years) usually meet one that does them for speed at the finish of a race at the some point.

What so interesting about Coneygree is how nothing has mugged him yet!
Its cone-and catch me if you can at the moment.

I've read the quotes from the trainer about the entry (or non-entry debacle) for the KG; the 10K late entry money won't be the main issue, its a case of whether they'll want to run in it....judging by the trainers comments its probably 70/30 against him going the KG, but he did suggest plans were fluid and that's been the impression for a while now.

There are double figure prices knocking about for the King George on the exchange, which would look appealing and wouldn't last long if plans change. Stranger things have happened, especially in racing.

Certainly some truth in that. Though the potential of better ground may be a factor also.

6/1 for the Hennessy looks a miles better bet, Marb.
Don't know whether he'll get a penalty for today, but - judged on how had them beaten so far from home - it wouldn't really make much difference.

I'm in no way crabbing the performance, but he was two-stone clear of the second on ratings, and the Nicholls horse was never put in the race (PFN's comments about how he would come on for the run, telling it's own tale). Coneygree has basically won as a horse of his calibre should have won, in a 3-runner race where only two were trying.

Connections have every right to be delighted by the performance, but I don't think he has necessarily enhanced his claims for the Hennessy today - they were already pretty handy anyway.

It's going to take a proper horse to knock him off his perch.

Might not be an either/or scenario. I've no intention to back him for the Hennessy anti-post or until the final decs are made, and in the meantime I'd rather like to speculate at double figure prices that he'll run in the KG.
I don't care if I'm wrong in the end as I think I'm right to have a go at it to small stakes.

I'm a believer where Coneygree is concerned, he's an exceptional horse, and I see no reason to fear the fact he's with a small trainer. His career to date has been handled as well as anyone could wish.

Afterthought: Apart from the entry ****-up for the King George, that is.

Totally agree. I was there today and he just skipped round. Regardless of opposition it was fabulous to watch.

Dunno that he needed his claims enhancing, Grass, and it's certainly difficult to see what more he could have achieved on what was basically a prep run?

from what i remember..TF and the official handicapper gave Coneygree a low rating..early 170's...laughable... i think is way out..if he isn't a 180 animal i'll be amazed

we are in for some quality 3 mile+ races with this lot i think guys..lip smacking stuff.. i think this season will see 3 x 180+ hosses on the go..Coneygree Vautour and the Don

2011 on 18th, 2010 on 19th both times Good ground. Coneygree needs soft to even be present in the race.

Was 2010 really good ground?
It was absolutely lagging down that day, Kauto slid the length of a triple jumper when he fell.

GOING: New course: GOOD changing to GOOD (Good to soft in places) after Race 3 (2.40) changing to GOOD TO SOFT after Race 4 (3.20) changing to SOFT after Race 5 (4.00)

Gold Cup was race 4
