Not sure about a 3m handicap chase, but there is a valuable enough 2m6f handicap chase on the Friday. Agus a Vic went close last year. I think it is a €30k to €40k pot.

There is also a conditions chase over 2m6f on the first or second day. Cooldine finished last in it last year and hasn't been seen since.

Rebel Fitz might turn up in that race if his trainer decides not to go for the Plate. He jumped very well last night but has only had three runs so far over fences, so the big field in the Plate on a tight track might not be ideal for him.

I thought the trainer sounded bullish about the Plate last night...no worries about experience, just about the mark he might get.

All depends on how Noel O Brien rates Rebel but novices with a touch of class have a great Galway Plate record. Just ask Grey !

Think that's the Galway Blazers Handicap Chase Bar - interesting for horses not rated high enough to get in the Plate itself.

Chases at Ballybrit are either 2m1f or 2m6f.

The prom at Salthill is only about 1m, Bar, and it's straight, so there's flat racing only, although at night you might have to hurdle the odd drunk lying on it.
