Novice Chasers 2016/2017

a lot of people have given up with Min Grass..due to recency bias...and when you look at what beat him..was it really that shabby?

just watched Altior jump nicely..and what i liked was..he did actually win as his odds suggested without breaking sweat//won by 63 lengths..hardly touched a twig and does look a natural..Ken Pitterson says he has grown a hand since March...its going to be very interesting to see what if anything can beat this brute

nice to see my other mate ChTibello back up what i thought of him behind Altior at Ascot in that October nov hurdle..what a race that was.....if you wait long enough over twigs..the rewards do come

chtibello is a rare beast in that he actually gave Altior a race

Absolute state of bookies shortening him up after that.

He's alive and jumped nicely with absolutely no company and he's 7/4 in places. Pathetic.

a novice chaser showing he can jump well in his first start isn't insignificant. 7/4 is too short with identity thief and min/yorkhill knocking about but i've got a feeling he's a serious tool this guy.

@EC didn't Altior pulled like a bull that day the whole way round? Nico refused to do what Fehily did today and simply let him go.

He's fine and jumps well, just what we needed to know. Surprised he's still odds against for the Arkle. Could win the Champion with a bold trainer.

i don't think company would have bothered him tbh..this is going to be one hell of a season for 2m chase babies..we have some right potential lining up..mouthwatering stuff..in fact..this division might be the one this season to thrill us the most..the GC division will depend on Coneygree staying sound..if he does..him v CC again will be epic

i'd have to watch it again to remind mesen..they drew well clear of a decently rated 3rd that day..and the time was phenominal for novices..its probably the best..as in what they did after..early season nov race i've seen..and i rated it as such at the time..would like to see something similar pop up anyway

I still think Min will back up my decision to oppose Altior with him in the Supreme..that hurt too seeing as Altior was spesh to me all season.....Min is way above decent..basing him on that one race/loss will be a mistake imo when he shows his real worth this season.

That was a very smart performance by Altior and he looked a lot more at home over fences than hurdles.

We know he acts on the course and we now know, while not spectacular, he is a very good jumper.

Certainly looks a worthy Arkle favourite even at this early stage. I was impressed

i'd rather back the fastest trapping T1 tomorrow morning than back a horse for Cheletenham at this stage

on top of everything else..ante post retards your bank..lets say you tie up 500 sheets at X on X at Cheltenham..well ..in 5 months..i could turn that 500 into 2 or 3 grand just backing sand dancers..laying em..or laying/backing twig hoppers in meantime

why would anyone tie money up for so long?..money is there to make money..on a daily basis..ante post is such poor ecomomics imo..its really bad practice imo if winning is what you want over a period of time,,its a hobbysist pursuit imo rewarded only by when you get a pat on back for backing a 50/1 shot that ends up fav..the number of times you do that will be limited by your lifespan..if you are 30 now you might get one back slap on here before the coffin surrounds you and stops you being daft any longer

if..

its bit like buying a lottery ticket and saying if winning..look what a judge i am..its poor economics imo

when i need to throw 20 darts at a board to get a "win"..i'll pack in and start changing me own nappies

No if about it. I've had plenty of winning Cheltenham bets from horses I've backed as long as a year before the race. It's just another 5% of the bankroll, no big deal.

whatever suits how you bet Euro..in my world..that tied up money could work for me with a guaranteed % return..the ante post bet not only is based on ability of horse..its based on whether it runs..drops dead before race etc

i like a more day to day guarantee..speculating is no good to me personally..i want return from outlay = food

we all have different priorities..but money management wise..ante post sucks for me..thats me though..a speculator with an income from elsewhere will view it different

what you not realising here Euro..i bet you younger than me by some way..and if i tie money up for next March..i might have been pushing daisies up for 2 months before the f00ker even runs..thats no good is it?:D

i'd rather that money going on some kind of alcholic liquid that helps me enjoy those last few weeks:)

Quality.

thats the real me Grass..i try not to take things too seriously..but with this game..i bloody do for some reason..to my own detriment sometimes

i like to amuse people...but i fail badly on here sometimes...wish i didn't..my flaw unfortunately..when that passion head gets going..ffs..needs winding in somewhat

Just saw Altior now. Had doubts about him given his sire but he looked the part today bar the low head carriage but put horses around him and am sure that will be ok.

Who else of the British 2m legion can trouble him post March?

last few Arkles were uncompetitive, this one has the making of 4-5 very good horses
