Novice Chasers 2019/20

Considering the winner had forced the pace, on soft ground and at a good clip, he was entitled to be slowing down in the latter stages. That said, he still finished 22l up on a decent horse, which connections thought showed enough promise to supplement.
Samcro came a cropper trying to match the winner's jumping speed, and (imho) his fencing ain't going to be adequate to compete seriously at much less than 3m.

Gordon appears to be coming round to my point of view:

Danny Whizzbang was hard done by today. Not sure he'd have won, but Tommy Tucker badly hampered him and took away any real chance to find out.
Yeh not ideal, but disappointed he folded at the end.

Tremendous from Notebook but Mark Walsh may not want to be looking back at that ride!

Laurina should never be seen over 2m again.

Laurina all hype.

I took a speculative 25s on Notebook for the Arkle a while a go, that looks massive now.

Fakir is my main bet, and I think this will be a fascinating rematch at Cheltenham.

Can't see City Island anywhere other than the Stayers after that.

Melon won't be winning anything come March either.

I don't think he'd stay aside from the lack of battle he shows

There was no lack of resolve, or stamina, when he won a soft ground Ballymore. Didn't exactly throw himself to the ground to avoid a fight when tipping up in the Drinsmore, either. Fact is, many opined he was going better than Fakir D when he came down 2 out.
He simply cannot fence at the same speed as top class horses over lesser distances than the RSA, and that race could well be the making of him as a chaser.

Wouldn't touch Samcro now myself. After the fall 2 out against Fakir, I was very much still in the Samcro camp. But he's just shown too many negatives for me now.

The resolve and stamina you reference from his Ballymore win will be 2 year old form come the festival in March - and I've come round to the view that he's just not the same horse since his long lay off last season. Each to their own, but not a bet for me in RSA at this point.

The 3m novice on Sunday is an absolute belter. All aboard the Indo train.

Battleoverdoyen for me all the way in this. I'm always happy to oppose Albert Bartlett winners the following season, and Minella Indos debut behind Laurina didn't really impress me - prior to Laurina not performing next time out. Also been immensely impressed with Battleoverdoyen on his 2 starts so far. Travels and Jumps like a proper 3 mile chaser.
