Sporting John's never been over further than 2m4f, DO........assume you have extrapolated a figure for him over 3m1f?

Appreciate he looked like he wanted every yard and more at Sandown, but he's not exactly guaranteed to get the trip in the RSA, and the sire doesn't get many out-and-out stayers (though The Big Breakaway will give you some hope on that front).

Just seems like a strange race to have your second biggest bet of the Festival, against a jolly who is proven at track and trip, and who hasn't put a foot wrong to date over fences.
 
reminded of footpad's arkle, with a superior animal as the winner. shocked at captain guiness going forward but not even sure it was the plan? was just lit up for some reason

Shameless aftertiming, but I had Eldorado in the Without and also got the forecast (paid a pittance). Just liked the way he stayed with Shish for a long way at Donnie.

Helped that CG and Allmankind cut each other’s throats, mind.
 
Dave Nevison was saying that Allmankind is unfortunate as he is clearly the second best horse in the race - and I can't see how he came up with that one.

Will Shiskin meet Energumene this year?

doubt it, shishkin either put away or aintree. energumene punchestown.

It looks like Timeform have gone with 170 for Shishkin, and - I think this might be unprecedented for a horse that’s just won the Arkle - left the large P on that rating too.

It seems the Head & Shoulders mob are frothing at what he’s put up on the clock, and that it’s nudging Sprinter Sacre’s novice-chase rating.

That rating might be conservative although their novice scales generally are, especially compared to mine. I already had him on 173++. I had Eldorado Allen on 160 (which is why I was so keen on him for the Grand Annual, spit) so those twelve lengths work out pretty accurately at 13lbs plus whatever the winner had in reserve.
